Attendance and Check-In

If your child is ill or will not be in school for some reason, please let us know by calling the school’s attendance line, (405) 715-9851. If you bring your child to school late, please come into the office and check them in. We now have our security check-in computer. It is like those found in the elementary schools. If you plan to visit our school, volunteer, or meet with a teacher or staff member you are asked to check in there and receive a printed badge. Thank you for your cooperation.

DCIS Fundraiser

As you know schools have very limited funds and must find ways to supplement these monies. Some schools choose to have carnivals, auctions, or simply to request donations. We understand that our families are stretching every dollar possible and want to find a unique way to raise funds that benefit everyone involved. Our spring fundraiser is something that will be a WIN/WIN opportunity for everyone.
Several local businesses are providing us with gift cards for their services/products and in return will make a donation back to our school for each card sold. This year’s list is a wonderful group of places that everyone will enjoy. In addition to last year’s participants of Sonic, TLC Florists and Greenhouses, KrispyKreme Doughnuts, and Danny B Gourmet Pizza we have added Poblano’s Grill, Elevation Trampoline Park, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, Deer Creek Salon and Boutique, Old Chicago, S & B Burgers, and Hal Smith Restaurant Group which includes Red Rock Canyon Grill, The Garage, Toby Keiths, Wes Welkers, Upper Crust Pizza, Kd’s Southern Cuisine, Charlestons, Hefner Grill, Hollies Steakhouse, Louies, Mahogany, Mama Roja. Each card purchased is for its full face value and for each card sold the business will give our school back $5. I have attached a detail of each card’s description and cost. Remember any and every card you buy gives back $5 to our school!
We hope that you will let your student help us by selling these to family and friends. It will be very simple and easy. Students will have a description of each card, a form to record orders, and an envelope to put the money in. Once the forms and money are turned in, the students will receive the cards to deliver to their customers. There are wonderful incentives for our students as well. For every five cards sold a student will get to choose a prize from our prize box and the number one seller in the school gets a $100 gift card, the second place seller gets $75, and third place gets $50. Please see the attached form detailing each offer.

Opportunities

6th Grade Enrollment (5th to 6th)
Please note the date change
Our fifth grade students will be enrolling for their sixth grade school year soon. Students will receive their enrollment packets the week of March 24th. Information on class choices will be included along with district and school forms. Parents will then bring these completed forms to school on March 27th from 4 – 7 pm. Students need not come that night. We will have an orientation date later this summer. We found it necessary to change the date due to the days we missed for weather and our band instructors needed time to administer an aptitude test for possible band students.
Testing Monitors
State testing is quickly approaching and the first test will be the 5th Grade Writing test. It is scheduled for February 26th. Mrs. Hayward our counselor has set up an easy way for you to sign up to help. Please go to this link to “Sign Up Genius” There you will be able to sign up to volunteer to monitor/proctor during the 5th Grade writing test. You may also contact Mrs. Hayward to volunteer as well. Thank you in advance for your help.

Traffic Help
You may have noticed that we have a sign designating cars to only turn right upon leaving the school during drop off and pick up times. The reason we do this is to assist cars in getting through the line quicker and more safely. Please help us by following these rules. Cars are to turn right leaving the school until 7:45 am and again until 2:45 pm. When cars try to turn left during the car line, it impedes cars leaving and coming in. Thank you for your assistance.

Lunch with Students
We strongly encourage and welcome you to come and have lunch with your child. We have special areas in the cafeteria where you can join your child. You may bring lunch for your child and yourself, but we cannot allow you to bring food to the other students. While it is wonderful to share this time with the kids, it can be very hurtful to those who are not included or invited to eat with you. In addition we have several students with food allergies. Please help us by abiding by this request.

Parent Portal
If you are having difficulty accessing your child’s information on the Parent Portal, Please go to the District’s main page and under Parents you will find the directions for setting up your account. If you are still having trouble, please call our office and one of our secretaries will help you.

Cell Phones
Please remember that we ask all students that bring cell phones to school to please turn them off while at school. Making phone calls or texting without permission may result in having them taken away and a parent retrieving them from the office. If this happens too often, a student may not be allowed to bring the phone to school at all. Please help us to use our electronics wisely and appropriately.

Parent Contact

If the phone number you have given to us as your contact number is not a local number, we request that you contact the office with a non-long distance number that we can use to reach you. If you do not have such a number, please make sure the office has an email that we can reach you with. Our current phone system charges for long distance calls and it’s important that we have local numbers to use when needing to contact parents.

DCIS Antler Wear

Our Antler Wear Store will be open on the first Friday of each month during lunch hours. Please stop by or send money with your student to purchase some of the greatest fashions in Deer Creek wear. We will also have it open during the Parent / Teacher Conferences.
