Chinese New Year Raceday will be held at Sha Tin Racecourse on Monday, 30 January, the third day of the lunar New Year. An array of amazing on-course performances and activities will entertain the public and enhance the festive mood.

HK$100 million mega prize to celebrate Chinese New Year

A total of HK$100 million will be on offer to celebrate the Year of the Rooster. An estimated HK$18 million will await the holder of a single HK$10 winning unit for the Triple Trio at the race meeting on the third day of the Chinese New Year (30 January) as the prize pool will be topped up from the Triple Trio Jackpot Reserve. The Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool Jackpot will also be topped up with $2 million.

Meanwhile, the estimated First Division Prize Fund for the Mark Six Chinese New Year Snowball Draw, which will be held on the fifth day of Chinese New Year (1 February), may reach HK$80 million. Tickets for the Snowball Draw will start selling on Wednesday 25 January.

Free door gift and instant win card to win a pure gold Mini-Ingot Gift Pack

Each racegoer entering Sha Tin Racecourse on 30 January will receive a lucky ball pen and an instant win card# (until the start of Race 6, while stocks last) offering a chance to win a pure gold Mini-Ingot Gift Pack from Luk Fook Jewellery. There are 1,800 prizes to be won, with a total value of over HK$570,000.

Celebrities to star in spectacular opening ceremony

The day will begin with a live variety extravaganza at 11:00am in the Parade Ring, led by lion dancing to summon good fortune. Veteran Hong Kong singer Frances Yip and Bennett Pang will perform their all-time favourites and popular CNY tunes. Feng shui master Mak Ling Ling will share her lucky tips, while jockeys will wish fans good fortune and prosperity for the New Year.

Highlight races of the CNY Raceday

On the track there will be 11 races, with the first starting at 12:30pm. Highlights on the turf will be the first two Group races for the Year of the Rooster, the Stewards’ Cup (Group 1, 1600m) and the Centenary Sprint Cup (G2, 1200m), together with the Class One Chinese New Year Cup (1400m).

Boost your luck at the feng shui fortune display

Come and visit the Feng Shui Avenue designed by Master Mak Ling Ling to bring blessings for a prosperous year. Inspired by the Year of Rooster theme, the Avenue is decorated with a farmhouse, a golden chicken and eggs with symbolic meanings of wealth and a good life.

Mak will also share her lucky tips to racegoers during designated time slots at the Tipster Forum.

Free admission for tourists

Sha Tin Racecourse will open to the public at 10:30 am on the CNY Raceday. Visitors to Hong Kong will be able to enter the Public Enclosure free of charge on presentation of a valid travel document.

Free shuttle bus service from Wong Tai Sin Temple to Sha Tin Racecourse

From 10:15am onwards, free shuttle buses to the racecourse will be provided from Wong Tai Sin Temple, the most popular venue for New Year worshippers.
