This exceptional program will offer an exemplary student the opportunity to continue their relationship with the University for one additional year, during which times/he will work for a specific area, and gain valuable experience to assist them in their future career goals. The goal of this experience is for the Fellow to explore the potentials of a career in Higher Education, focusing on a specific field of study.

The program runs for 12 months, the Fellow will work full time. During that time, s/he will receive:

  • A fellowship stipend of $25,500 divided semimonthly across the 12 month period.
  • The option to participate in AU employee benefits (including health and dental insurance and the voluntary pension program).
  • Paid holidays on the same schedule as regular employees.

Job Description for the Crouse Center Spartan Fellow

Position Summary:The Crouse CenterSpartanFellow serves in a one year appointment from 1July 2013through 30 June 2014. It is a position for a 2013 graduate of Aurora University. The appointee will report to the Assistant Dean of Student Life.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represents Aurora University in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current students, clients, suppliers and the community we serve. Interacts effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students and other customers of our service. Learns and uses operating practices of the department and Aurora University.
  • Upholds the Mission Statement: AuroraUniversityan inclusive community dedicated to the transformative power of learning.
  • Handles all information with tact and discretion and recognizes the confidential nature of university business.
  • Supports learning through performance of essential job functions and performing other duties and functions as necessary or as assigned.
  • Act as a generalist advisor in the Crouse Center for Student Success, particularly in the area of general education.
  • Supervise the Crouse Center Computer Lab, including student scheduling and training.
  • Liaise with ITS regarding computer lab issues, needs, student training, etc.
  • Supervise the Crouse Center interns during the evening hours.
  • Support the Live Chat function for the Crouse Center for Student Success.
  • Assist with the AU4U: Registration and Orientation events as needed.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Individual must be a 2013 graduate of Aurora University.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
  • Analytical yet creative mind.
  • Ability to multitask and to work independently with excellent follow-through and attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; interest in working with a diverse student population.

Special Requirements:

  • Ability to move about campus.
  • Evening and weekend hours are required.
  • Anticipated work schedule is 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday.
