10.30 – 11.00 Francis Stuart, Research & Policy Advisor, Oxfam Scotland

  • Francis will discuss over-arching key trends in poverty and inequality in Scotland and link these to the important mitigation role that CCHAs so often play on the ground.

11.00 – 11.30 Colleen Rowan, Membership & Policy Officer GWSF

  • Colleenwill highlight the key findings from GWSF’s recent report on succession planning for committee members and senior staff and consider what these mean for the CCHA movement moving into the future.

11.30 -12.00 Morning break

12.00 – 1.15 Café Sessions

  • Delegates will have the opportunity to take part in 3 café sessions, from a choice of 7, where members will show-case a range of innovative projects which help to tackle poverty and inequality in their communities.

2.15 – 2.30 Maureen Cope, Chair, GWSF Campaign Group

  • Maureen will talk about how in the current climate of ever-increasing austerity it is more important than ever for CCHAs to highlight the consequences of poverty on tenants and other residents and to continue their work with communities to protect people from the worst impacts where possible.

2.30 – 3.00Sandy Campbell, Founder/Director, WorkingRite

  • WorkingRite’s approach to youth unemployment gives young people essential work experience as well as providing them with good role models, building their confidence and offering a vocational alternative to academic learning. Sandy’s session will feature the innovative initiatives that are happening with WorkingRite and some CCHAs.

3.00 – 3.30 Fraser Stewart, Director, New Gorbals Housing Association

  • As the leading community anchor organisation for Glasgow’s Community Planning Partnership’s ‘Thriving Places’ approach in that area New Gorbals HA has played a key role in getting partners and local people around the table. Fraser will talk about the aims of ‘Thriving Places’ as a strategic approach and the crucial role of the HA as the key anchor organisation.
