Principal Comment:

Greetings/Kia Ora

Our ANZAC Commemorative Service was outstanding Whaea Ange’s Year 3 class organised, co-ordinated and ran a very poignant, moving service.

We had a “Field of Remembrance”, reading a roll of honour with the names of the 30 fallen soldiers, including the soldier known unto god. This was followed by a Haka. The Last Post & Reveile was played on the trumpet by Reese, a TPHS student as the flag was raised. Our special guests included NZ Army 2nd Lieutenant Mark Whitaker and Corporal Day, members of the RSA, Matua Tua & Whaea Kiri (ex service personnel)

The laying of the wreaths made by each class, reading of the Ode all combined to make a very memorable service. Room 16 students Jale Rounds and Kordell Aranui were excellent MC’s. There were a large number of parents and Whenau who attended the service and some were moved to tears. Our students also represented Fairhaven at Te Puke Primary’s Memorial Gate Service, the Maketu Dawn Parade (Toitoi Manawa) and Town ANZAC service where they layed wreaths.

“At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them”

CALLING ALL CYCLING FAMILIES

Please join other families in a Bike Rally this Sunday (3rd May) in support of the

Tauranga to Omokoroa coastal cycleway.

The development of this coastal cycle trail is a joint venture between the Western

Bay and Tauranga City Councils. The Western Bay Council has committed to its

funding share, however, the Tauranga Council recently declined to fund their portion

(Matua to Wairoa River) thereby putting in jeopardy the total project.

Join other families and residents on a relaxed and safe bike rally to show your support for this cycleway and send the TCC a clear message that their lack of support for funding this project is unacceptable.

When: Sunday 3rd May at 9.00am

Cycle Route: Ferguson Park to the Strand Waterfront

Safe route along the waterfront, Sulphur Pt and Dive Cres

Marshalls in place at key locations

PS. The bike route is deemed suitable and safe for children aged 8 years and above
