PRESIDENT:

Lady Golfers,

Welcome to PPWG 2017 Season! It was great to see so many of you at the kickoff meeting last month. Welcome to all the new members that joined this year and welcome back to all the returning members. I hope to see you all on the course and at After Play. It seems that winter reared its ugly head just as we started our season, but I’m sure there will be many sunny days through the weeks ahead.

I apologize for the mix- up with tee times at Valley-Hi and Patty Jewett for the first 2 weeks of play. The Scheduling committee has worked it all out now and the new schedule will be published on the website and sent out in email.

If you weren’t able to attend the kickoff meeting, I covered a few of the rules of etiquette to ensure that we have an enjoyable time out on the course.

At all times we want to represent PPWG with honor and integrity.

Wear appropriate golf attire.

Be on time (early) for your tee time.

Our policies state that tee times will not start prior to 12:30 (unless the Golf Course schedules us earlier, i.e. Cheyenne Shadows starts at Noon) and that you must play with other league members to participate in the

POD.Please adhere to this policy.

Be sure to cancel your tee time with the course if you don’t plan to show up due to weather or otherwise. Do NOT assume it’s raining at the course even if it’s raining in your immediate vicinity.

Keep up the pace of play. Play ready golf. Know the equitable stroke control for your handicap and pick up the ball when you have reached it and mark your score accordingly.

NEW RULE: Allow only 3 minutes to look for a lost ball!

And most importantly - Have Fun!

For any members that have not entered the Hole in One Pool, please see me. It’s $1.00 to enter and if you do get a hole-in-one during league play (witnessed by another league member), you win $600.00.

I look forward to getting out there and golfing with you all.

Hope you have a wonderful season!

TEETIMES:

How to sign up for a "play day".

The tee sheet for the next week will be available either at the course and/or at "after-play". I will e-mail a copy of

the tee sheet to all members on Wednesday. If you would like to sign-up, just send me a message. Please request a time or specify if you would like to play 9 or 18 holes. I will post the tee sheet on our website and update several times through the week. All requests must be received by 11:00 am on Friday prior to our play day. I will be sending the tee sheet to the course sometime after 12:00 pm Friday. If you would like to be added or need to cancel after this, please call the course directly. The phone number will be on the original tee sheet or website.

Please be aware that I send the tee sheet to a specific contact. I have found that the contact may not pass along the information to others in the pro-shop until sometime Monday or even Tuesday morning, so others in the pro-shop may not have my tee sheet to review when you call.

Look forward to seeing you all on the course.

Maggie Gallandt and Sue Nord

HANDICAP:

Handicap

Equitable Stroke Control

Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) is the downward adjustment of the individual hole scores for handicap

purposes in order to make handicaps more representative of a player’s potential scoring ability. ESC sets a maximum number that the player can post on any hole depending on the player’s Course Handicap. A Handicap Index determined from scores to which ESC has not been applied may not be termed a USGA Handicap Index.

How to apply ESC

  1. Convert your USGA Handicap Index to a Course Handicap for the set of tees you are going to play.
  2. Use the chart below to look up the maximum score you can post on any hole based on your Course Handicap.
  3. If you do not complete a hole, write down the score you most likely would have made. If you do not play a hole or do not play a hole under the Rules of Golf, write down par plus the handicap strokes you would receive on that hole. Such scores should be preceded by an “X.” Do not write down your maximum score for an incomplete hole unless your probable score exceeds your maximum score.
  4. Once you have completed your round, scan your score
  5. card to locate any scores higher than your maximum score and reduce them to your maximum score.
  6. There is no limit to the number of holes you can adjust.

NOTE: For PPWG Tuesday’s game, your maximum score to post in scorecard your turn in is 10.

Thanks,

Annabella McGatlin

Play of the Day Committee:

Each week of league play we will have a fun competition set up for the golfers to participate in. You must play with at least one other league member during scheduled league play to participate in the play of the day. Many of the competitions will use the score card from your league play. Please make sure to write your first initial and full last name (at a minimum) legibly on the score card for competitions that need a score card turned in. We have created a POTD scorecard basket to help collect scorecards. If you were at the Christmas in January event then you should be familiar with the basket. We will have the basket out each week at the club house and later at the after play event. You can turn in cards from the week of play and any previous weeks for up to two weeks later. We need all cards for play of the day turned in by the third play date after it occurred (the date of play counts as the first play date). To further facilitate card turn in we will be allowing anyone with a smart phone to take a photo of the scorecard and submit a text or email to the play

of the day committee members. Please try to send within one day of play so we are not receiving random texts for days afterward related to different courses. Text phone# for Colleen Rajcevich = 719-210-8726, Janet Gorman = 719-243-0398, Connie Arbuckle = 719-660-6882. Email for Colleen= , for Janet = , Connie = . If you send a text or email, we still need your hardcopy score sheet turned in to validate. Remember make sure the scorekeeper signs the scorecard and have another player from your tee time sign the validated line of the scorecard.

To make the play of the day even more interesting we have 3 extra competitions set up during after play throughout the season. Look for notice of when the after play competitions will occur on the schedule and what the competition is at the after play event.

We look forward to a fun and exciting golf league play with all you ladies!

Colleen Rajcevich, Janet Gorman, Connie Arbuckle
