TheUniversityofIowadepartmentofFacilitiesManagement,Planning, DesignConstruction,isseeking a highlymotivated, experienced professional to lead the project management of all contracted design and construction work for the University of Iowa; including ongoing flood recovery projects estimated at over $500 millionand oversight of contracted design and construction work for UIHC. Thehighly visible positionwillreporttotheDirector,Planning, DesignConstructionandlead ateamof46 FTEwithanoperating budgetofapproximately$5 million,inproviding effectivemanagementandoversight of more than $200 million annually in construction expenditures. Pursuesavisionofexcellence, providesleadershipand directimprovementsinworkmethods,practices,proceduresand performancestandards, and ensures resultsthatyieldtheoptimumtotal-cost-of-ownershipofcapitalinvestmentsand meetUIstrategicgoals and ensurethefinancialviabilityof anin-houseorganization entirelydependentoncostrecoveryfor servicesprovided.

Other dutiesinclude:

  • providetechnicalandadministrativesupporttostaffinexecuting effectivemanagementpracticesyielding projectsthatsatisfyscopeand program requirementswithinestablished budgetandtimelineconstraints;
  • develop,implementand maintainstrategicinitiativesfor improving capitalprojectimprovements;
  • ensure executedprojectsfollowuniversallyacceptedpracticesand meet orexceedtheauditandcompliancerequirementsofthe State,BoardofRegentsandtheUniversity;
  • developandorganizeobjectivesandlong-rangeprogramsfor theeffectivestewardshipofcampusbuildingsand facilities;
  • developand nurtureeffectiverelationshipswithcustomers;
  • participateinthe leadership ofthe FacilitiesManagementorganization,and advocate anddriveitsstrategicinitiatives;
  • directand motivatestaffassuring accountability for developing andmaintaining a diverseandinclusiveworkenvironmentandlead organizationaleffortstoimproveworkplacesafetyand provideaworkplace ofchoice.

The Planning, DesignConstructionunitis one offivewithinFacilitiesManagement,whichisresponsible for theplanning,construction,operation,and maintenanceofbuildings,campusgrounds,and utilitysystems onthe UniversityofIowaCampus.
