Assistant or Associate Professor of Politics and Center for the Study of Statesmanship Fellow

The Department of Politics at the Catholic University of America invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position to begin in the fall of 2018. This appointment is to be combined with a research appointment at the Center for the Study of Statesmanship (CSS). As a CSS Fellow the appointee will have a reduced teaching load. Although the appointment is likely to be made at a junior rank, more senior applicants will be considered.

The search is not confined to a particular field, but we are especially interested in scholars in foreign policy, international relations, or national security, or some combination thereof, who are able to place world politics in a philosophical, historical or cultural context. A background in political theory, the history of ideas or American constitutionalism is desirable. Candidates who are alert to the moral and religious dimensions of their areas of expertise are particularly encouraged to apply.

The Department of Politics offers a popular undergraduate major with many distinguished alumni and a strong MA and PhD program with graduates on numerous college and university faculties in America and abroad.

Established in the spring of 2017, CSS explores the meaning of statesmanship and how it can defuse conflict and foster respectful foreign and domestic relations.
