Assistant/Associate Professor of Construction Management
There are two position openings for Assistant/Associate Professor of Construction Management (with one position having coordinator responsibilities) available at Eastern Kentucky University. The description is as follows:
The Department of Applied Engineering and Technology at Eastern Kentucky University is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position to begin August 2018. The program's emphasis is on construction management and is accredited by ACCE. Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate and graduate courses for the construction management program in the following areas: Fundamentals of Design Theory (Strength of Materials, Soil Mechanics), Analysis and Design of Structural Systems (HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, electrical), Estimating, Scheduling, Materials and Methods of Construction, Construction Contracts, Project Organization and Supervision. The successful candidate is expected to participate in department, college and university committees, student recruitment, course, laboratory and program development, appropriate service, scholarly activities and articulation with business and industry. Teaching and construction experience preferred.
Additional responsibilities for this position include:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Construction Management program;
- Advise Construction Management students;
- Mentor student organizations, clubs and competition teams;
- Participate in recruitment events;
- Participate in the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) accreditation process.
Qualifications: A terminal degree in Construction Management/Civil Engineering or a related field from a regionally accredited institution is required for appointment at the rank of assistant professor level. However, candidates who are ABD or hold a Master's degree will be considered at the rank of instructor. Upon completion of doctorate, rank and salary adjustments will be made to the assistant professor level. The doctorate is required for tenure. Teaching experience and relevant professional experience in the United States are preferred. The candidate must have an undergraduate degree and at least one graduate degree in construction, engineering, engineering technology or a construction-related field. Preference will be given to those candidates who have successful teaching experience in an ACCE accredited construction program. Degree(s) must be from a regionally (SACS, North Central, etc.) accredited or internationally recognized institution.
