Ashim Khemani, Chair and Chief Executive Officer

Position and Responsibilities

Ashim Khemani is the Chair and Chief Executive Officer for Aon Consulting Canada. In his role, Ashim is accountable for the strategic and operational direction of Canada’s consulting operations. Ashim also maintains strategic service relationships with key Aon clients.

Areas of Specialization

Ashim has over 15 years of experience in the insurance and advisory services industries spanning all three sectors of the Canadian economy. He has worked with a broad range of domestic and international clients, and serves on several advisory boards. Prior to joining Aon, he was Senior Vice President, Institutional Markets with Liberty Health.

Background

Ashim is an active participant in policy development forums and lectures at academic institutions. He is a writer and commentator on competitive behaviour, corporate development strategies, and health and performance issues. He is the co-author of Canadian Group Insurance Benefits: A Practitioner’s Guide & Reference Manual.

Professional Affiliations

Ashim earned his MBA (Global) from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. He has acquired the Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and Certified Employee Benefits Specialist designations.

Dr. Robert Carlyle, Vice President, Aon Intelligence Unit

Position/Responsibilities

Robert is head of the Aon Intelligence Unit (AIU), a group that provides clients with data-intensive strategic consulting, custom information technology (IT) tools and application development. Where appropriate, the AIU draws upon other human capital specialists from within Canada and globally.

Areas of Specialization

Robert specializes in strategic and human capital planning and business model development, which includes:

  • Business planning within large organizations;
  • Workforce forecasting based on operational modeling and simulation;
  • Change management;
  • Activity selection and prioritization; and
  • Effectiveness and performance measurement.

Background

Robert joined Aon in 2006 through Aon's acquisition of Carreg Solutions Inc. His key projects and accomplishments at Aon include:

  • Leading the Health Benefit Design Options project for Alberta Health and Wellness. This study included long-term health utilization projections for the province, as well as economic analysis on the sustainability of health care costs. Results were released by Alberta Health and Wellness in April 2006.
  • Preparing business plans based on demand related to future trends in health care.
  • Leading the development of workforce forecasting and simulation capabilities.

From 1999 to 2005, Robert was president and co-founder of Carreg Solutions Inc. During this time, he directed more than 70 projects for multi-national clients. This work focused on integrated strategic and project planning and development of management information capabilities to support successful project implementation.

Robert has a Ph.D. in Strategic Theory and Planning from CranfieldUniversity at the Royal Military College of Science. He also has a Masters in International Security and Defense Management from LancasterUniversity and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia.
