It does not contain college/university specific scholarships, unless it is a college/university scholarship that requires a specific nomination from J. H. Rose. Students are encouraged to look at the websites for the colleges to which they are applying for specific scholarship information

Jefferson Scholars Foundation

  • The Jefferson Scholars Foundation was created to serve the University of Virginia by identifying and appealing to young people with extraordinary intellectual range and talents who possess high qualities of leadership, scholarship, and citizenship.
  • Jefferson Scholars from out-of-state will receive an annual stipend of over $56,000 per year.
  • The Jefferson Scholars Foundation seeks to identify the most highly talented students in the world. Being a Merit-based scholarship, students are usually in the top 10% of their class with an average SAT score of 2271. Students are also involved in a variety of extracurricular activities that displays their strong leadership skills.
  • Students must be nominated by their high school in order to apply for the Jefferson Scholarship. If interested in applying for the scholarship and attending the University of Virginia, please see a counselor ASAP. All Counselor and Jefferson Scholar nominations must be complete by Dec 1, 2015.
  • Nominations are completed by both school officials and students and include a scholastic report, extracurricular activities, recommendation letters and twoessays.

ROTC Scholarships

  • Scholarships cover tuition and fees, an allowance for books, and a monthly stipend.

Air Force

  • The application process requires, U.S. citizenship, minimum age of 17, minimum GPA of 3.0, minimum ACT composite score of 26 and/or SAT score of 1180 (excluding writing), recommendations, extracurricular activities, leadership, interviews. Acceptance and attendance at a university with an AFROTC program. An applicant must also meet fitness, physical, and medical requirements. There is also a service commitment.
  • Application deadline is December 1, 2015
  • Deadline to submit other supplemental application materials January 12, 2016.

Army

  • The application process requires, U.S. citizenship, age of 17-26 years, minimum GPA of 2.5, high school diploma or equivalent, minimum SAT score of 920 (math/verbal) or minimum ACT composite score of 19 (excluding the required writing test scores), recommendations, extracurricular activities, leadership, and interviews. Acceptance and attendance at a university with a ROTC program. An applicant must also meet physical standards. There is also a service commitment.
  • Application deadline is October 2, 2015, January 5, 2016 or February 29, 2016.

Navy and Marine Corps

  • The three scholarship options are: Navy, Nurse, and Marine Corps.
  • The application process requires, U.S. citizenship, age of 17-23 years, high school diploma or GED, minimum ACT and/or SAT scores, recommendations, extracurricular activities, leadership, and interviews. Acceptance and attendance at a university with a NROTC program. An applicant must also meet physical standards. There is also a service commitment.

Jabberwock Scholarship Program

  • Presented by the Greenville (NC) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
  • The Jabberwock Scholarship Program is for young ladies who are Juniors and Seniors and exemplify poise, leadership, exceptional character traits, scholarship, and respect within their schools and community.

Ausmus G. Wells Memorial Scholarship

  • Eligibility Requirements:
  • Applicants must be high school seniors at Pitt County Schools
  • Applicants must be planning to attend East Carolina University in the Fall of 2016
  • Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.
  • Applicants must demonstrate traits of high personal character and leadership
  • Semi-finalists will be interviewed by the Scholarship Selection Committee

NFIB

  • NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards are open to any graduating high school senior that owns and operates an established business. Additionally, the student must enter their freshman year at an accredited two- or four-year university, college or vocational/technical institute during the fall 2016
  • The NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards are $2,000.
  • Three NFIB National Young Entrepreneur Awards will be issued for $5,000.
  • One NFIB Dan Danner Leadership Award will be issued for $15,000.
  • One NFIB YOung Entrepreneur of the Year Award will be issued for $15,000.

John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest

  • The program challenges students to consider the quality President John F. Kennedy admired most in public life: political courage
  • Contest essay topic: In 1,000 words or less, describe and analyze an act of political courage by a U.S. elected official who served during or after 1956.
  • The case award ranges in value from $500 to $10,000.
  • High school students in grade 9 through 12 can apply

Florence Kidder Memorial Scholarship Application

  • A first place scholarship in the amount of $3,000.00 and a runner-up scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00 will be awarded to two High School seniors who plan to attend a college or university in North Carolina. These scholarships are given by The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of North Carolina in memory of their first president.
  • A completed application includes the following:
  • A completed online application
  • A separate listing of extracurricular activities, honors, community work and work experience
  • A current photo
  • An unofficial transcript of grades, including first semester senior courses if possible and current GPA.
  • A letter of recommendation from one of the student’s teachers in pdf format.

DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution)

  • Each Year the DAR awards over $150,000 through more than 25 scholarships to young individuals for their outstanding academic achievements.
  • DAR Scholarships are offered for a wide range of disciplines including: history, law, medical, nursing, music, education and many more.

Lenior-Rhyne University Teaching Scholars Program

  • LR Teaching Scholars are awarded $5,500 per year for four years.
  • Prospective students are encouraged to apply immediately as space is limited.
