ASDA Water Meter with Colour Touch Screen

Operation is very similar to previous models, simply select the chosen recipe from the list using the up and down buttons and press go to dispense the water into the mixing bowl.

If the water meter is not used for approx one hour the screen backlight will automatically dim. This is both to save energy and to prolong the life of the display backlight. A single light touch anywhere on the screen will re-activate the screen illumination

The touch screen panel is quite sensitive and a light touch is all that is required when selecting keys.

NEVER use any sharp object to operate the touch screen.

When editing recipes and / or parameters it is ok to lightly use something like the blunt end of a pencil or ballpoint pen to select the smaller keys

Installation

To gain access to the back enclosure remove the two screws top and bottom on the right hand side of the water meter.

There are two “Keyhole” openings near the top of the rear enclosure and one plain hole near the bottom centre for fastening the machine to a wall.

When shipped the machine is configured for the chilled water to the Top left inlet pipe. If this needs to be swapped to make the plumbing in easier follow the procedure below.

  1. Turn off all power to the machine and unplug it from the mains.
  2. Remove the cover from the back of the door section by removing the one screw located at the bottom centre of the cover.
  3. Follow the cable from the valve actuator or count the terminals from the left of the main PCB and swap the wires (Red & Orange) in terminals 5 & 7.

The outlets are factory configured with the Drain on the right hand side and the feed to the mixer on the left.

This can be swapped simply by swapping the push on terminals on the solenoid valve coils.

Setup & Calibration

Press and hold in the top left corner of the screen. After approx 10 seconds the setup menu will be displayed.

There are three parameters that need to be set for correct operation.

PPL = Meter pulses per millilitre... This is preset before delivery based on a weight measurement of water dispensed. Pressing up or down will increase or decrease the value by 0.001 pulses

FACT = Factor this is part of the formula used to calculate the water temperature and is factory set at 20. This figure has been used on all ASDA meters for more than 12 years and should never require adjustment.

PURGE = this is the amount of water in decilitres that will be allowed to go to drain before the meter begins to dispense water into the mixing bowl. This is important because if it is impossible to achieve the correct temperature because of very warm weather the chiller would otherwise be emptied completely. Therefore this gives the best possible water temperature for the circumstances. If the chiller cannot supply water cold enough the only way to achieve perfect dough temperatures would be to add ice.

When the purge value is set to Zero the meter will operate without the drain.
