2:30pm – 3:30pm / Writing Age Group Training Sets & Sessions / John Bladon
John has coached swimmers on to multiple Australian Youth Teams. In the presentation John will share some of his and others favourite sessions and will also allow time for others to share their sets and discuss them.
3:30pm – 4:00pm / Afternoon Tea
4:00pm – 5:30pm / The Road to Glasgow / Chris Mooney
Chris was a coach on the Australian Swim Team at the recent Glasgow Commonwealth Games, seeing his swimmers bring home Individual and Relay Gold.
In this presentation Chris will share many of the things he did in the preparation to get his swimmers onto the team. He will share what his program, his seasonal plan and cycles looks like. Chris will also share programs and plans that he used to test and prepare his swimmers.
While at the Commonwealth Games Chris had success with his Breaststrokers he has had great success coaching all 4 individual strokes and Individual Medley swimmers.

9:00am – 10:30am / Foundations of a quality Squad Program / Chris Mooney
Chris has coached squads in regional QLD and in Brisbane. In this presentation he will look into how he programs for age group swimmer and the foundations in what coaches need when coaching in regards to, body position, how to place skills work into your program effectively, while again sharing programs he has successfully used with age group swimmers.

11:00am – 12:30pm / Fundamentals to producing a swimming body out of the pool / David Pugh
David is a Physiotherapist on the Australian Swim Team and also the physiotherapist to the SOPAC High Performance squad. David will present on how an effective Warm Up, Stretching routine and Injury Prevention plan will not only keep your swimmers in the pool but also help produce efficient and powerful strokes.

1:15pm – 2:30pm / Distance Swimming for Age Groupers / Panel
Some of NSW successful age group coaches will share their thought and programs on what they believe is required to produce good age group distance swimmers.

2:45pm – 4:00pm / Physiology and Program writing / Erin McCleave & Brant Best
Erin is currently the NSWIS Swimming Physiologist and was also a National Open Gold medallist.
Brant is the High Performance Coach at SOPAC, coach of 5 Olympians including James Magnussen & the 2011 Australian Coach of the Year.
In this presentation Erin along with Brant Best will discuss how to effectively program for age group swimmers while giving examples of programs that can be used in the different energy systems.
4:00pm – 5:00pm / Long Term Athlete Development / Panel
Keeping swimmers in the water into their teenage years is sometimes a difficult task. Some of NSW top coaches will share their thoughts on what is required within a program and a club to keep swimmers in the water.

A Swim Australia™ Teacher of Competitive Swimming (SAT CS) will be competent to deliver basic swimming squad sessions that develop the swimming technique of novice Swimmers – this is generally defined as Swimmers who are recent “Learn to Swim” Graduates and are in the likes of a “mini squad” (usually around 10-years and under) and still acquiring the skills needed to transition into competition. This Course is endorsed by the peak sporting body in Australia for swimming – Swimming Australia as the entry level course for the swimming coaching accreditation pathway.

Developing Efficient Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke & Freestyle.
