WARHAMMER 40,000 PLAYERS PACK
Welcome to Battlecry 2014 Warhammer 40,000 Tournament! My name is Wayde Francis and I will be playing the part of Tournament Organizer. For those who have not competed in a Battlecry: Congratulations and Welcome! Tell your friends!! To those who have competed in the past: Welcome Back (insert evil laugh here!!!!!)!!!!!
This is the player pack, which contains all the important information you require to compete at in this year’s Battlecry. Important dates, tournament rules and other tidbits can all be found in this document.
I like to make sure that each and every Battlecry event is a fun one. If this is your first, I hope the experience has you returning in the future (like the suckers mentioned above...)
The Players
All the players that attend Battlecry 2014 are expected to conduct themselves appropriately throughout the tournament. That includes playing the game in the right spirit, making sure they have everything they need (dice, measuring tape etc., clear army lists and their armies!) and in general contributing to a friendly environment where everyone can enjoy both their games and the time spent in between rounds with their peers.
The tournament organizer (me: Wayde) will do his best to ensure that the tournament runs smoothly and everything is provided to enable the players to get as much enjoyment as possible from the event, and likewise the players should do their utmost to hold up their end of the bargain. Most important of all, enjoy yourself!
The Organiser
The organiser for the event is Wayde Francis. He is 100% committed to ensuring that your Battlecry 2014 experience is the best it can possibly be. His job is to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible, that you can concentrate solely on your task at hand and that is to play the best Warhammer 40k you can for 2 days against likeminded people that share your love of the Warhammer 40,000 hobby.

TOURNAMENT RULES
Playing the Tournament
You will participate in a series of six games (spread over two days), each against a different opponent.
Players will be matched against an opponent in the First Round based on specific (and confidential) guidelines. After that, in each round the two players in 1st and 2nd place (based on their points for Gameplay) will play each other, the players in 3rd and 4th place will play each other; the players in 5th and 6th place will play each other, and so on.
The only exception is that you should never play the same opponent twice; should this happen let the TO know so they can sort things out and offer you fresh opponents of a suitable calibre. The main advantage of this system is that it seeds players after the First Round, and makes sure that the final winner of the Tournament will have faced some tough opposition along the way.

· Special Characters: There Can Be Only One (see below)
Weapons, armour options and upgrades chosen from the Codex must be shown on the all models in a unit. You are encouraged to use converted miniatures to represent your army.
Special Characters: There Can Be Only One
Special characters will be allowed, HOWEVER special characters are unique: There Can Be Only One. One (1) of each special character will only be allowed in this tournament i.e. There will only be one (1) Tyco in the whole tournament, only one (1) Eldred in the whole tournament etc. (Masters of the Deathwing, Masters of the Ravenwing & Emperors Champion will be exempt as these will be judged as Titles, not “special characters”).
To register your special character, you must be the first person to fully pay for your Battlecry registration and hand in a LEGAL army list containing the ‘named’ special character/s: First In, First Served.
There will be no pre-booking or “bagsing” of special characters prior to your army list being handed in. Once your registration has been confirmed as fully paid for and your legal army list has been handed in, any special characters you have nominated will only be used by you. There will be NO alterations/amendments made to your army list unless requested by the Tournament Organiser.
If any army list has to be returned due to irregularities and/or legality issues, you will lose your booking on your chosen special character: so please be careful when handing in your army lists.
A list of the taken/registered special characters will be updated regularly on the Battlecry website.
DECIDING WHO WINS THE TOURNAMENT
The winner of the Tournament will be the player who scores the most points in the categories described below. The points scored in each category will be added together, and the player with the highest total will be the winner. In the case of a tie, the winner will be the player who scored the most points in the Gameplay category (second tiebreaker - Sportsmanship points). In addition to the overall winner, a number of other awards will also be given out.
Trophies/Awards will be given for the following:
· 1st Overall (player with most tournament points)
· 2nd Overall
· 3rd Overall
· Best Army – combination of Presentation and Army Selection
· Best Sport
· Best Presented Army
· Best Terrain
OVERALL SCORE BREAKDOWN
50% Gameplay
20% Sportsmanship
20% Presentation
10% Army Selection
GAMEPLAY (50% Overall Score)
You will score points in each of the missions that you play that contribute to your Gameplay Score. This score is made up of two components – Result Points and Bonus Points.
Result Points
Win 10 points Draw 5 points Loss 0 points
Bonus Points
Each of the following criteria score 1 bonus point
· Enemy General dead or falling back at end of the game;
· Most expensive enemy unit destroyed, immobilized or falling back at end of the game;
· Your General is neither dead nor falling back at the end of the game;
· No enemy scoring units in your Deployment Zone;
· You have at least one Troop Unit that counts as scoring (as per the Warhammer 40k rulebook) at the end of the game.
These points combine to give a game score of 0 to 15 points. This gives a score out of 90 which will be converted to a 50% contribution of your overall score.
SPORTSMANSHIP (20% Overall Score)
After every game each player will be required to mark their opponent’s sportsmanship.
Each game can be scored:
· Extremely Sporting Opponent 5pts
· Sporting Opponent 3pts (the default)
· Unsporting Opponent 0pts
If you feel the need to modify a sporting score you can approach a Referee and explain why you would like to change the score for a particular opponent.
This gives a score out of 30 which will be converted to a 20% contribution of your overall score.
At the end of the tournament you will be asked to nominate the opponent who you believe was the most sporting out of the six games. These votes will be used in the event a tiebreaker is needed to decide the “Best Sportsmanship” award.
