ROCKET NEWS!

In this Year of Mercy…

Week of April 4, 2016

“As the Father loves, so do His children.

Just as He is merciful, so we are called to be merciful to each other.”

Pope Francis

•Congratulations to our ROCKET Baseball Team! They swept CCS Monday evening with a score of 10-6 and 5-2. Leading hitters were Brooks Sherman (11th grade) and Cullen Resolute (10th grade). Jacob Loflin (9th grade) and TerranSchweikhart (11th grade) combined on the mount in the first game while Patrick Talbot (11th grade) and Sean Lipps (11th grade) sealed the night cap! And then on Wednesday of this past week, the team came from behind to defeat CCS, again, with a score of 7-6! A strong combined pitching performance by Chandler Whitney (11th grade) and Riley Lowry (9th grade), coupled with successful plate appearances by Riley Lowry and TerranScheikhart and an overall tough TEAM defensive effort earned the ROCKET win!

•Our Annual Mount Baseball game at the Brick against OCS is TONIGHT at 7pm. Admission is free for the game. This is a great time for our kids who play baseball and for our Rocket Nation who join us. Friday night under the Brick lights. Pretty cool stuff!!! In order to pay for the game we will be selling 250 tickets for MOUNT DAY AT THE BRICK as the Dodgers host Las Vegas on Sunday, May 15th, at 2:05 in the afternoon. Tickets are $15 each. So mark your calendars for both events.

•Our Senior Class wants The Mount community to know about the upcoming blood drive they are sponsoring on Wednesday, April 6th, from 8 am to 1 pm. This particular blood drive will be very, very special. The class has received permission from the Oklahoma Blood Bank to have the donated units credited to baby Alistair. This little guy is the 2-year-old grandson of Charley Finsel, the MSM Business Manager. Little Alistair was diagnosed with MedulloBlastoma, a type of tumorous cancer in the cerebellum, and his ROCKET Family not only continues to pray for him on a daily basis, but we also want to continue to help with his family’s needs. Parents, if you would like to donate blood, please contact Mr. Brian Boeckman at . Let’s unite together for Alistair!!!

•Please congratulate the following art students. Their art work was accepted into the Young Talent in Oklahoma Art Competition! Their works will be on display Saturday, April 2nd, in the Melton Gallery beginning at 3:00 p.m.

•National Honor Society Induction is this coming Sunday, April 3rd. We begin at 1:00 p.m. in our school auditorium!

•The ROCKET Soccer Girls team won a very hard-fought battle against Guthrie Thursday evening, and were victorious by the score of 2-1. The girls played their best game of the season and showed great poise preserving that win at the end of the game.

•As you know, we have a wonderful group of young ladies – MSM Mercy Girls – and they have created a beautiful and meaningful activity to promote “Mercy!” Therefore, April is “Mercy Month” and the slogan is: Be REAL. Be Mercy. Throughout the entire month of April, the MSM Mercy Girls have activities planned as well as have invited a nationally known speaker, Sister Deidre, R.S.M., to come and speak to our student body about the Sisters of Mercy’s international mission work within our Mercy schools, especially work being done with a school in Zambia, which is a project very dear to our MSM Mercy Girls.

•Senior Parents – You should have received an invitation to the Mother/Daughter Luncheon (April 14th) or Father/Son Luncheon (April 28th). Please RSVP to Mrs. McGugan at 631-8865 OR
