November 10, 2007

As scheduled, Ms. Marlene Jimenez called the CWA meeting to order on

Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 11:01AM.

Agenda:

  • Correction to Recent Memo
  • Wage Increase
  • Pension
  • KRONOS
  • T-shirt's

Discussion, Decisions & Assignments:

  • The recent memo regarding CWA's negotiation contract, should have read Communications Workers of America.
  • The members who attended today's meeting, voted to have the increase to go towards their benefits in lieu of their salary. (Part-timers will receive a salary increase.)
  • Please be sure to read the most recent posting regarding your pension as it appears that it may go into PERA. If you would like to voice your opinion regarding this decision, you are allowed to do so at the Board meeting which meets every 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:00PM.
  • KRONOS should be at all schools in January 2008.
  • Community Action will hold fundraisers to purchase CWA T-shirts. One of the fundraisers will be a golf tournament. If you are interested in participating in the fun-filled events, contact Ann Vigil.

Additional Items:

  • Contact payroll if you are experiencing problems with receiving your stipend.
  • If there is a mistake in double punching your time card, do NOT write anything on it to correct the mistake, but instead inform your FM and have him/her to write or initial the mistake, not you. This will alleviate you of being accused of falsifying records.
  • Do not unload delivery trucks because if you get hurt, you are not covered for workman's comp. Have the driver to unload the items. Additionally, do not sign for deliveries as this makes you responsible for the items received. (Only sign if management is not available.)
  • Everyone should be using the Plan A and Plan B schedules.
  • The more you support CWA, the more support they are able to provide you, the employee.

Tentative Agenda for the Next Meeting:

  • Marlene's next managerial meeting has not been scheduled.

Reminder(s):

  • Contact DOTS to have your email set up.
  • Document EVERYTHING!
  • Please be sure to contact Ann for all Community Action events.
  • You are more than welcome to volunteer your services to CWA. The more help, the better.
  • Remember to wear Red every Thursday in support of Union Solidarity Day!
  • CWA's next scheduled meeting is to be held on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 11:00AM. Except for the months of July and August, CWA meets the 2nd Saturday of each month at 11:00AM at 2840 South Vallejo Street, Englewood, CO.

With there being no further business to discuss, and on a motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, it was resolved to adjourn the meeting at 12:50PM.

It's Time To Vote!

Please come! And please let your helpers and part-timers know about this meeting.

Our next meeting is on November 10 2007 at 11:00a.m. at 2840 S. Vallejo and we have very good news to share with all of the members.

We are going to be doing some voting so please plan to be there as this is VERY important.

We appreciate everything you do.

Marlene Jimenez Vice President CWA

October 13, 2007

As scheduled, Ms. Marlene Jimenez called the CWA meeting to order on

Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 11:00AM.

Agenda:

  • School Closures and Employee Placement
  • Change in Hours
  • Your Rights to CWA Representation
  • Personal Days
  • KRONO'S Update
  • Your Personal Personnel File

Discussion, Decisions & Assignments:

  • The employees at the eight schools that are due to close, will not be laid-off, but will be placed at schools that are already short of help.
  • A petition has been circulated in regards to changing the hours where employees work past 9:00PM - possibly closing as early as 7:00PM. If there is a special event/function, then the employee would have to adjust their hours accordingly. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
  • Should you have a dispute with upper management, you have the right to request CWA Representation at all times. Therefore, you should not agree to have a meeting without CWA present. Additionally, do not sign ANYTHING without contacting CWA first.
  • If you are denied your personal days, do not take the days denied, but instead contact CWA immediately. (Do not contact CWA if you decide to take the denied days as after which, it is too late for CWA to plea for your rights.)
  • KRONO's is still due to spread throughout the entire school district. Be prepared to use the computer to punch in when you arrive to work, punch out when you leave for lunch, punch in when you return from lunch and punch out when you leave at the end of the day. Be sure to get use to using the computer to punch in and out so that you can reduce your chances of receiving White Cards and/or LOC'/LOW's. Note that the 7-Minute rule still applies.
  • Nothing should be placed in your personal file without your knowledge and certainly not without your signature. You have the right to view your personal file at anytime, so be sure to go through it and question any item unknown item.
  • Make copies of any received White Cards and LOC/LOW's so that no one can write something on them without your knowledge.
  • If you are having trouble with locks on the doors of your building, immediately notify your FM as well as document that you made the notification that the door will not lock and/or latch properly. If need be, take someone with you as a witness or verification that you did everything in your power to secure the building.

Additional Items:

  • The Bowl-A-Thon will be held tomorrow. For detailed information, please give Ann Vigil a call.

Tentative Agenda for the Next Meeting:

  • Marlene's next managerial meeting is scheduled for November 1st.
  • Ultimately, Marlene will address the ongoing problems with FM's not helping when someone is on vacation and/or out sick. Additionally, the problems with building coverage when payroll is due, but the FM is on vacation and/or out sick.

Reminder(s):

  • Contact DOTS to have your email set up.
  • Do not wait until you receive an excessive amount of White Cards before contacting CWA.
  • Document EVERYTHING! CWA cannot remind you enough! Tell your co-workers as well. Even if it is something minor, document it every single day. If you have a good day or a mediocre day, document it as it shows consistency in your documented records.
  • Please be sure to contact Ann for all Community Action events.
  • Remember to wear Red every Thursday in support of Union Solidarity Day!
  • CWA's next scheduled meeting is to be held on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 11:00AM. Except for the months of July and August, CWA meets the 2nd Saturday of each month at 11:00AM at 2840 South Vallejo Street, Englewood, CO.

With there being no further business to discuss, and on a motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, it was resolved to adjourn the meeting at 12:45PM.

September 2007 Minutes

As scheduled, Ms. Ann Vigil called the CWA meeting to order on

Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 11:05AM. (Marlene was away on other business).

Agenda:

  • Reasons for Job Termination
  • CWA Representing non-CWA Members
  • Community Action Events and Resources

Discussion, Decisions & Assignments:

  • The most recent terminations were mostly due to stealing from the job, no-call-no-show, too many sick days as well as receiving too many LOC/LOW's. Alternatively, there are those who are actually doing what is required of them, but are still facing obstacles and difficulties while on the job. If you are having problems (while following all of the rules), contact CWA before it is too late. Do not be afraid to step forward and speak up against what is unjust. CWA is unable to assist you if you don’t document and report the problem.
  • Members made note of their dissatisfaction of supporting non-CWA members. While CWA has always represented non-CWA members, Active Members question their Union Dues that are used to defend and support non-Union CWA employees.
  • Community Action is in action. If you are in need of school supplies for your child, contact Ann. Additionally, she is seeking ways to collect coats for the winter. Community Action's events are as follows:

September 22nd: Community Action will have a Poker-Run and all proceeds will benefit pediatrics aids.

October 14th: Community Action will host a Bowl-a-Thon. All interested parties need to contact Ann after they form a team.

October 27th: Community Action will host a Halloween Bash with hayrides, coloring contests, apple-bobbing and other fun events. Bring your children to share in this fun-filled event. While the cost is free, Community Action asks that you bring a canned food item for the Food Bank.

Community Action is seeking to adopt a school for those children in need. Adopt-a-School is usually held in December around 2PM and volunteers help collect school supplies and other needed items.

Please be sure to contact Ann for all Community Action events.

Additional Items:

  • It is unknown as to who is responsible for items delivered to each school, however more information will be provided as it becomes available.
  • Ann and Marlene will have a meeting regarding some of the employees who are not following the rules. They are hoping this meeting will provide ways to protect jobs.

Tentative Agenda for the Next Meeting:

  • Since Marlene was not able to be present, her next managerial meeting is unknown.

Reminder(s):

  • Do not forget to keep a daily diary of each workday as it is for YOUR protection and beneficial to CWA should you need their support.
  • Community Action is seeking volunteers.
  • Remember to wear Red every Thursday in support of Union Solidarity Day!
  • If you are interested in learning current and future plans as well as what is discussed in each meeting, attend CWA meetings. We do our best to forward minutes on a timely basis. However, if this is not to YOUR satisfaction, do not complain, but attend.
  • CWA's next scheduled meeting is to be held on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 11:00AM. Except for the months of July and August, CWA meets the 2nd Saturday of each month at 11:00AM at 2840 South Vallejo Street, Englewood, CO.

With there being no further business to discuss, and on a motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, it was resolved to adjourn the meeting at 12:34PM.

Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 11:10AM.

Agenda:

  • Wage Increase (only CWA Members can vote)
  • Part-timers automatically receive a wage increase as they do not receive benefits.
  • After further discussion, the voting took place at approximately at 11:20AM.

Discussion, Decisions & Assignments:

  • L.O.C. (Letter of Concern) is now L.O.W (Letter of Warning.) It is neither more nor less severe, but just a change in wording.

Be careful to punch in and out to avoid receiving LOC/LOW.

  • “Horse playing” in and around your building could be a detriment to both you and your job. Come to work to work and limit your “horse playing” so that you’re not hurting yourself or others.

Additional Items:

  • As of today, the picnic is not decided. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.

Tentative Agenda for the Next Meeting:

  • Marlene's next managerial meeting has not been scheduled.

Reminder(s):

  • Contact Marlene if you are interested in sitting on the Executive Board, becoming a Union Steward or Area Representative.
  • While CWA assists all eligible employees, it should be noted that it is most beneficial if employees are active members. For active membership, be sure to contact an Area Representative or Marlene.
  • We do our best in forwarding CWA minutes to keep employees informed of changes in the district as well as things that may affect your job however it is most beneficial to be informed by attending CWA meetings.

To insure you are up to date on current happenings in the district, please try to attend each CWA meeting. Some but not all Local CWA notices are posted at and current CWA minutes are posted at Additional and extra CWA member benefits are available through Union Plus online at

  • Remember to wear Red every Thursday in support of Union Solidarity Day!
  • If you are in need, do not forget the sole purpose of Community Action and its ongoing assistance program. Additionally, Ann is seeking volunteers to help assist in Community Action's ongoing activities; inviting others to join in these fun-filled events while helping others.
  • CWA's next scheduled meeting is to be held on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 11:00AM. Except for the months of July and August, CWA meets the 2nd Saturday of each month at 11:00AM at 2840 South Vallejo Street, Englewood, CO.

With there being no further business to discuss, and on a motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, it was resolved to adjourn the meeting at 12:17 PM.
