Dear Parents:
As fourth grade progresses, our curriculum is expanding more and more each day. To help enrich our Social Studies instruction, we will be taking a field trip to St. Augustine, Florida. St. Augustine is the oldest city in Florida, dating back to the early 1500’s.
This trip will be a one day journey through old-time Florida. We will be transported by a charter motor coach to and from St. Augustine. While in St. Augustine, we will be visiting such places as Castillo De San Marcos, Florida Heritage Museum as well as a narrated historical tour of the City by Old Town Trolley. The date of the trip will be Thursday, November 17, 2016. Children must arrive at school at 6:00 am and parents must pick children up from school at 6:00 pm.
The price of $40 per student (not including class shirt) and adult will include transportation, admission to all tours, and an afternoon snack. Students who currently receive free lunch will be provided a lunch from the cafeteria to take on the bus. All other students will be required to bring their own bag lunch from home. If you would like to chaperone the trip, please let your teacher know as soon as possible, and be sure you are an approved volunteer by checking with the front office. Chaperones are on a first come first serve basis and to lock in your place we will need your payment by October 28th.
Students should bring a back pack with sweater or jacket (might be cool on the bus), along with a camera, spending money, book or magazine for reading and their own snack of choice. Due to code of conduct no cell phones or electronic equipment are to be allowed to accompany students. Any item your child brings they will be responsible for, not the school. All teachers will have cell phones in case of any emergency. If you need to contact your child, due to emergency, you can contact Sawgrass Bay and the message will be transferred immediately.
To finalize our tour reservations, we need to know how many students and chaperones will be attending. Payment in the form of cash or money order (no checks) will be accepted anytime, but must be turned in by Thursday, November 3rd, 2016. For security purposes, money is not allowed to be dropped off in the front office. There will be no exceptions to this payment date due to our tour contract requirements. If you have any further questions please contact your child’s teacher. We look forward to all of our students attending.
