- Student will utilize technology in lesson design (file size, Power Point, e-mailing large files)

- Student will design a system for organizing images

- Student will prepare images for example images (in plastic sleeves)

- Student will design and employ a five-minute critique in small groups

Part One – Slideshow Image

Research your artist’s work. Choose an image that captures your attention and that meets the recommended file size for printing. Insert it into a Power Point presentation. Follow these guidelines:

-Save slide in this format: Last name of artist_Title_of_piece

-E-mail to Jennifer at by midnight, Friday Feb. 17th.

-Image size: First search in ARTstor (Mansfiled Library, Databases A – Z, ARTstor.) You will need to set up an account. If you don’t have luck in ARTstor try Wikipedia commons. If you still cannot locate the image run a Google Image search, but select large files. The images should be at least 300 dpi at approximately 8” x 8”.

-Save the image as a jpg to your desktop and insert it into a Power Point presentation.

-Show the entire image; do not crop it.

-Select a black background with white text.

-The picture plane will determine the placement of the text. You will place the following information on the left, under, or on the right. You get to choose which one appears more balanced.

-In Arial 28pt include the artist’s name, the title, and the year created.

Part Two – Downloading and Organizing

Be ready to share how you are organizing your files when the slideshow is on Moodle and ready for downloading.

Part Three - Classroom Image

-Print out your chosen image in color. It should not be pixilated. If it is, choose an image by the same artist with a higher resolution. Mount it on black paper with rubber cement. Wait a few hours before sliding the toxic glue into the plastic sleeve as it will fumes will warp it. On the back of the image, include the following information (printed or typed) in the format below:

-In addition to the piece information, write three additional facts about this artist or this piece of work by the artist. Adhere this information to the back as well. Cite informally. (It’s a cheat sheet for you!)
