IACMI Members Relations Coordinator

Duties/Responsibilities:

The Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation, IACMI, is a partnership of industry, universities/colleges, national laboratories and federal, state and local governments working together to benefit the Nation’s energy and economic security by providing existing resources and co-investing to accelerate development and commercial deployment of advanced composites. This diverse public/private partnership develops manufacturing technologies that respond to the need for faster and more cost-, material- and energy-efficient composite manufacturing including recycling at the end of product life.

IACMI is one entity in the National Network of Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI), a White House initiative to help US manufacturers employ leading-edge technology and become more competitive. IACMI is established to manage a Department of Energy financial assistance award for an anticipated five year period. IACMI is a multi-party member based organization with five technology areas within IACMI: Vehicles (Michigan State University), Wind (National Renewable Energy Laboratory), Compressed Gas Storage (University of Dayton Research Institute), Modeling, Design and Simulation (Purdue University), and Innovative Materials and Technologies (University of Tennessee, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, University of Kentucky). IACMI, a 501(c)(3), vests its Board of Directors (BOD) with management of the property, activities, and affairs of IACMI according to its Charter, Bylaws and Operational Plan for execution of the DOE award.

Reporting to the IACMI Communications Director, this position generally will:

  • Provide leadership and oversight to ensure that the IACMI Membership Program is operating successfully and sustainably.
  • Be responsible for overall operations of the IACMI Membership Program, including membership development and communication.
  • Be responsible for leading the development of two meetings annually, rotating among IACMI technology focus area sites.
  • Maintain and update member’s database.
  • Assist and occasionally lead special projects as needed.
  • Conduct research on identification of new members.
  • Assist in research, preparing, and writing grants as needed.
  • Administrative duties such as copying, filing, scanning, and distributing information
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

•Experience coordinating and managing large events

•Ability to comply with federal regulations

•Ability to understand and negotiate agreements

•Ability to gain an understanding of the current capabilities, policies and practices, administrative structure, and culture of NNMIs generally and IACMI especially

•Ability to member confidentiality.

•Competency in Microsoft Office with strong word processing and spreadsheet skills.

•Excellent proofreading and writing skills.

•Excellent face-to-face communication skills.

•Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively manage his/her time and workloads.

•Knowledge of PC operations and standard software packages as well as database experience.

•Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented and able to balance priorities.

•Ability to maintain an even personality in a highly-charged activity

Preferred Experience:

•Experience managing membership organizations

•Familiarity with the Department of Energy

•Prior experience with 501(c)(3) operations

•Experience with reporting, communications, and outreach within a membership organization

•Management and leadership in large, complex organizations

•Experience using email marketing tools

Education Requirement

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Two years job-related work experience. Education can substitute for some experience.
