Background – Elephant Family

Every hour, forest is lost across Asia. As populations and industries explode, landscape disappears, taking with it some of the world’s most endangered wildlife. The biggest and most intelligent of them all, the Asian elephant, has seen numbers plummet by 90% in the last 100 years. Elephant Family is fighting back.

By protecting and reconnecting the great forests, we are saving Asian elephants and the endangered tigers, orangutans, rhinos and wildlife that share their habitat. And it's working. Save them and you save everything. It’s as simple as that.

But time is running out. Help us beat the clock.

Background – Travels to My Elephant

In November this year a fleet of thirty rickshaws will race 500km across Madhya Pradesh to India’s most famous elephant; Tara.

Rescued by one of the world’s most charismatic adventurers, the late and very great Mark Shand, Tara became the star of his best-selling book ‘Travels on my Elephant’ and is the inspiration behind this epic journey.

Travels to my Elephant seeks modern day adventurers with an appetite for the extraordinary. Each team of two will be part of a crew that aims to raise £1m for Elephant Family – the charity founded by Mark and dedicated to saving the magnificent Asian elephant from extinction.
