-Lastly, we would also like to thank all staff who assisted us in promoting our Access Experience Fair. It was well attended by students, with positive feedback from exhibitors who were kept busy on Bush Court from 11 – 1pm last Wed. Your assistance in making the event a success is very much appreciated.

-** Do you have a surplus desk in your area? The Careers Centre are seeking a temporary desk from August – November. If you have a desk you aren’t using, may we borrow it? We promise to return it! Please contact either Xander or Suzanne if you can help.

(Academic Development)

CUTLfish Shut up and Write

-Be a big fish in a small pond and join Wednesday morning’s Shut Up and Write group. Using the well-established Pomodoro technique the sessions will consist of 2 x 25 minutes silent writing, with a 5 minute break. Don’t worry about going overtime, writing and breaks will be timed by the facilitator.

Time: Every Wednesday for 60 minutes, 9.30am to 10.30am (Commencing Week 1, Wednesday 3 August)

Equity and Social Inclusion:

-Living Library Event – ‘Living Narratives of our Nation’ – hear unique and fascinating stories told by living books. Staff and students are invited to the University Library to be swept up in a collection of enthralling stories, without even picking up a book. The Equity and Social Inclusion Office, in collaboration with The University Library and The Kulbardi Aboriginal Centre, presents a wide variety of living books to celebrate the NAIDOC theme 'Living Narratives of our Nation' on Thursday 11 August.No registration is necessary and everyone is welcome to this unique University event!

Where: South St Campus Library, North Wing Level 2, 24/7 Common Area

Graduations

-The Online Graduation Attendance Confirmation portal is open

-We will commence graduating students with Winter as their last teaching period on Monday 15 August

Results

-We are processing S1 2016 supplementary and deferred exam results

-Winter Board of Examiners will be held this week with results scheduled for release on Friday 12 August

-T2 Board of Examiners will be held next week

MU Health:

-Murdoch University Health (Medical) is offering acupuncture guided meditation workshops for staff wellness, run by one of our doctors Dr Su Lin Wan. ( See attached flyer)

-The four-week workshop will train you in qigong meditation techniques with the guidance of acupuncture (max 10 participants per course)

Discover which type of meditation best suits your needs, and how different techniques can be useful at different times.

Receive personal instruction, guidance and answers to your questions, and experience the benefits of guided qigong meditations in a friendly group setting.

You will leave this course with tools you need for your own daily meditation practice for wellbeing.

* Week One: Deep Relaxation for stress and anxiety

* Week Two: Natural Breathing Method (Abdominal breathing)

* Week Three: Meridian cleansing

* Week Four: Revision of Techniques

The Student Centre:

-We have now reverted back to our 8.30am-4.30pm opening times, apart from Thursday when we open at 9.30am (however, please note we open at 8.30am on Thursday for parking, payments and transcript enquiries only).

-Please keep us in the loop if your area is sending out student notifications (re. pretty much anything!), it means we can give them the right information when they call, email or do the pop-in.

-Useless Tip of the Week: Woolloomooloo. To remember how to spell it - sheep, toilet, cow, toilet.

TNE:

  • Jenny Sceats is on well-deserved leave until 29thAugust, please send any enquiries you would normally send to her to ring this time.
  • Catherine Wallace begun her new part-time role as ‘Dubai Academic Program Coordinator’ last week. She will be closely assisting Dubai Dean Dr Max Sully for the next few months on the UQAIB accreditation and sits with Yukiko & Nathan in ECL 3.010. Dr Sully is in Perth this week.
  • TNE Exams for the May Trimester (TMA/TMB/TMD) continue
  • Unit Materials delivery has begun and partners will begin to download UILGs etc. in preparation for the September Trimester (TSA/TSB/TSD) which begins 5th September
  • Preparations for the offshore MUCC roll-out continue, with the TNE Liaison team assisting Schools with Study Plans for Kaplan and Dubai students
