**APRIL SCHOLARSHIP NEWS**

Canyon Oaks Women’s Golf Club “Bridging the Gap for Breast Cancer” scholarships are available to high school seniors residing in Butte and Glenn Counties who have lost a parent or sibling to breast cancer or who have a parent or sibling currently in treatment. Deadline is April 7th.

Chico Women’s Club offers a $750 scholarship to a young woman planning to attend Butte College. A short essay about yourself is required. Deadline is April 14th.

Arnoldo Avalos Foundation Scholarship will award $1,000-$2,000 to a student who will attend a University of California, has a 3.5 gpa or better, prove financial need, has worked at any time during high school and participated in high school athletics. Deadine is April 15th.

Butte County Administrators Association offers scholarships in the amount of $500 to graduating seniors who are interested in an education-related career, or are the child of a school administrator working in Butte County. A 3.0 gpa is required. Deadline is April 17th.

Chico Eagles Auxiliary #218 offers $500 to a local area student. An application, two letters of recommendation and a statement of financial need and future goals are required.

Deadline is April 27th.

CSEA (Classified School Employee Association) offers scholarships to students whose parents are CUSD classified employees. An application and brief essay are required. Deadline is April 28th.

Chico Breakfast Lions offers a $500 award to a student who has been involved in school activities, volunteer activities and or employment. Applications are available in the counseling office. Deadline is May 15th.

CHICO HIGH FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

Roger Williams Memorial Scholarship – scholarships of varying amounts will be awarded to seniors who have been involved in at least 3 extracurricular activities during high school. See Miss Hahn in J224 for an application. Deadline is April 18th.

Chico High Class of 1961 is offering a $500 award to a student who is active and proficient in an area of the Humanities, to include art, drama or music. The scholarship will be awarded directly to the student and there is no restriction as to how the funds may be used. Deadline is April 18

Holly Barnett Memorial Scholarship is an award to a female student who has participated in participated in high school athletics and plans to attend college.. A brief essay and a letter of recommendation from a coach is required. Deadline is April 18th.

Adam Gausemel Memorial Scholarship is available to students who have played a sport (preferably soccer) and have the potential and desire to succeed in college. An application, recommendation from a coach, and personal statement are required. Deadline is April 18th.

Danny Imhoff Memorial Scholarship is an award to a student who is a unique individual with a mellow personality, a positive attitude and plans to attend college in the fall. An application and personal statement are required. Deadline is April 18th.

Cynthia Ann Kennedy Memorial Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship given by the family in her name. Cynthia was the mother of CHS 2011 grad Levi Stanton. The goal of this scholarship is to support the spirit and determination required for young people to realize their dreams and to encourage a goal oriented approach to do this. AGRICULTURAL SCHOLARSHIPS:

Press Powell Memorial Scholarship. Press Powell was first a vocational agriculture teacher then a private business owner. He was a supporting member of the FFA Parent Booster Club at CHS. He greatly believed in the FFA organization and its support of our youth. The Chico FFA Booster Club has created an opportunity for Chico Chapter senior student members to apply for this $500 scholarship, which would enable recipients to further themselves in their career and life goals. Deadline is April 18th.

Bertagna Family Scholarship: The Bertagna family has been involved in Butte County agriculture since the early 1900’s. Three generations have actively supported the Chico FFA Chapter. This scholarship has been created to assist graduating agriculture students with financial support to further their education and agriculture endeavors. Deadline is April 18th.

Harry A. Merlo Agriculture Scholarship: Awarded to a senior who will enter a two or four year college or university. An essay, FFA activities record and personal statement are required. Deadline is April 18th

Paiva Family Scholarship: 3.0 gpa, FFA for 2 years minimum, preference given to dairy or cattle farming (but not required). 750-1250 word essay. Deadline is April 188h.

Friends of Ag Scholarship: $500 to $1,000 to seniors who are planning to major in agriculture at a 2 or 4 year college or university. 3.0 minimum gpa, An application, resume and essay are required. Deadline is April 18th

California Association of Pest Control Advisors is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior pursuing an agricultural degree in plant or soil science. An application, personal statement and activity record are required. No financial need required.

Deadline is May 1st.

This is the last scholarship bulletin of the year and most of these are LOCAL AREA scholarships. Students will be selected from Chico High to receive the majority of these scholarships!!
