April 2012 Principal Newsletter Commentary
Dear Parents,
As we return from spring break intersession, I hope that your children are well rested and ready to begin preparing for the 2012 AIMS and SAT 10 Test. I have listed the dates below as well as our kindergarten registration and screening information. We encourage you to help your child "test their best" by getting a good night’s sleep and staying on a regular schedule over the next few weeks. Please make sure they have a good breakfast with healthy choices in order for them to feel their best on each test day. As usual we will continue our tradition of having an AIMS INCENTIVE for students that have perfect attendance during testing week and complete their SAT 10 or AIMS Test. This year, we are going to try something new and have a School Wide Dance during the day! We will have a D.J., games, music, free popcorn and a Fun Friday Snack table available. The date of our dance will be Friday, April 27, 2012.
Last, we want to encourage you to mark your calendars for an upcoming dual event, hosted by Magma Ranch's P.T.O. It will be Family Bingo Night on May 1, 2012. The time will be announced soon. Before the event begins, Dr. Nine will be visiting Magma Ranch and hosting a Community Meeting to answer questions about the future budget in F.U.S.D. and openly share his concerns with theongoing financial challenges thatwe will be faced with next year. He will offer anopportunity for audience members to ask questions and get answerson why specific budgetary cuts were made and how itwill affect your child and family. If you are interested in what changes are taking place in our district and why, please plan on attending this very important meeting so we can share valuable information that all community members need to know.
AIMS Testing - April 16th – 19th
Arizona’s Instrument to Measure Standards (more commonly known as AIMS Testing) will be held April 16, 2012 through April 19, 2012 with make-up tests being held April 20th through 27, 2012. All students in grades 3 through 8 are required to take the AIMS Test each year.
Please be sure to mark your calendars now so that outside appointments are not made during the week of AIMS Testing. It is very important for your child to have perfect attendance, a good night’s rest, and a healthy breakfast this week!
2012- 2013 Kindergarten Registration and Screenings
Magma Ranch Kindergarten Registration has begun for the 2012-2013 school year. Half Day Kindergarten is free to all children that turn 5 years old by September 1st. Supplemental Full Day Kindergarten is a fee based program which only costs $125 per month with a $50 non-refundable registration fee.Registration for full day kindergarten is available now and on a first come, first served basis. Parents may register in the front office for either program, during regular school hours. Please bring a valid birth certificate, immunization record, photo i.e., and proof of residency, such as a utility bill.
