The regulations aim to cultivate CHU students’ independent spirit and to expand their learning horizons.

Qualification, application and review of the work-study grant of Chung-Hua University

  1. Responsible units

Administrative and teaching units: Choose and supervise work study students,

and make a detailed list of the grant.

The Life Guidance Division: Organize work-study documents and allocate the grant to each department

  1. Content

Article 1 The regulations aim to cultivate CHU students’ independent spirit and expand their learning horizons by providing them working opportunities on campus.

Article 2 Working duties: Work duties include various temporary work, professional work and labor, and students’ work shall not affect their schoolwork, mental, and physical development.

Article 3 Qualifications:

1. Students with financial difficulties, Taiwanese aborigines and disabled students have the first priorities.

2. Students who apply for professional work should be equipped with necessary professional ability, and their applications shall be by approved by the University President.

3. Overseas students shall have a valid work permit for the duration of work study.

Article 4 Payment and Obligation

  1. Payment criteria of the work-study grant: Payment is based on actual work hours. Working hours of each student shall not exceed 8 hours per day, and shall not exceed 80 hours per month. (During summer and winter vacations, working hours of each student shall not exceed 140 hours per month.)

Working hours per week of overseas students shall comply with government regulations.

  1. Each unit shall supervise work-study students, verify their attendance, and send their attendance records along with work-study program participant information to the Live Guidance Division as payment basis.
  2. Work-study students shall open an account from assigned financial institution, and the work-study payment will be remitted to the account by the end of next month.
  3. Work-study students shall only work for one unit. In case of working for two or more than two units at the same time due to contingent or project work, the amount of working hours shall not exceed maximum hours in accordance with regulations.

Article 5 Work-study rules

  1. In case of unsatisfactory work performance, a student’s qualification shall be cancelled by the hiring unit, and the unit shall find other students to fill the opening. A student can’t arrive at work in accordance with working schedule shall request a leave of absence in advance. Records of attendance for 5 years and leave of absence requests shall be kept by each unit.
  2. A student discontinue work-study because of personal reasons shall fill in an application form of resignation to complete resignation procedures in each employment unit. The employment unit shall inform the Live Guidance Division of Student Affairs Office.

Article 6 The amount of work-study budget

  1. The work-study budget for each unit shall be reviewed by the

Committee for Work-Study Grant.

Article 7 Upon being passed by the Student Affairs Committee and approved by the

President, these regulations are announced and implemented and the same

procedures shall apply to amendments which may arise.
