Applications for Reauthorized Tenure Track Positions (to Hire in 2017-18)

I welcome applications from departments and programs who are proposing to retain and fill a vacant existing line. Please note that for 2017-18 there are no new lines. According to longstanding college policy, existing lines opened by retirement or resignation return to the general pool of positions. Departments and programs must apply and make a case for keeping a position.

Include the following information in your application:

  1. A description of the position and how it fits into or expands the department’s curriculum. How will it enable the department to achieve its current and long term goals?
  1. If you are requesting to keep a position, how long has it existed and who has held it? If you are seeking to replace a faculty member, what courses has this person taught and what are the enrollments of these courses over the last five years?Also, in the last five years, what have been the enrollment patterns for the department as a whole?How often has the department required visitors to fill courses that support the position?
  1. How will the new hire’s areas of expertise enable the department to maintain its strengths and/or keep pace with changes in one or more fields? How will these areas of expertise serve the needs and interests of majors and non-majors?
  1. How will the position enable the department to increase the number of blocks that support all-college requirements including FYE and Critical Perspectives?
  1. How will the position enhance the department’s relationships with other departments or programs? How might a new hire participate in interdisciplinary studies?
  1. How willthe position contribute to diversity in the curriculum, faculty diversity and/or a broader range and variety of pedagogical approaches and learning experiences for students?

a)How many faculty in your department or program have participated in the College’s EXCEL@CC professional development series, “Good to Great: The Journey to Inclusion”?

b)Where will you advertise the position, if approved? What strategies will you use to ensure you are recruiting from a broad and diverse pool of applicants?
