POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: / Instructor, Bioscience
Job Duties: / The Bioscience Instructor position is a full-time position with the Bioscience Technology Department, Division of Health and Public Safety. This position requires a passion, demonstrated through experience, for effective teaching and advising of diverse students plus excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated commitment to the college mission. Responsibilities include developing, teaching and implementing bioscience related lecture and laboratory courses, but may have other teaching assignments as needed. The instructor will also be instrumental in the development of the Bioscience Technology Program by serving on departmental and college committees, councils, working as a team member in curriculum development, assisting in course coordination, providing academic counseling and guidance to students, and participating in other college and community outreach and other community service activities consistent with the mission of Atlanta Technical College and Technical College System of Georgia. This instructor is also required to participate in commencement and convocation activities as well as special college meetings.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS: / •  Master’s Degree in Biology, Bioscience, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Biology or related area. At least 18 semester graduate hours in biology, molecular biology, cell biology bioscience, biotechnology, biochemistry, chemistry, environmental biology or a related area. At least 3 years related work experience in molecular biology, cell biology, bioscience, biotechnology and documented evidence of classroom, laboratory instruction or industry experience. Must be able to prepare lesson plans, develop program and syllabi, goals and objectives and evaluate student progress in attaining goals and objectives. Must demonstrate proficiency with knowledge of biological and chemical laboratory techniques, instrumentation and concepts related to bioscience.
PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS: / Ph.D. in Biology, Bioscience, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Biology or related area. Five years related work experience in molecular biology, cell biology, bioscience, biotechnology, analytical chemistry and documented evidence of classroom, laboratory instruction or industry experience.
WORK SCHEDULE: / Monday-Friday
SALARY: / Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
