Skills Required:
The successful applicant must be licensed to practice medicine in Ontario; have, or be eligible for, certification in Hematology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada; have completed additional fellowship training in hematopoietic cell transplantation; be a member of the Canadian Medical Protective Association; and, be eligible for a University of Ottawa academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or higher. Past experience teaching medical students and residents is required. A Masters in Epidemiology or Education is an asset. Bilingualism is also an asset.
Job Duties:
Under the general direction of the Head of the Division of Hematology, Department of Medicine at the Ottawa Hospital/University of Ottawa, the Hematologist will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care in Malignant Hematology and autologous/allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation. In addition to providing excellent patient care, candidates will be involved with teaching students, residents, and fellows, and would have a focus of interest in either education, research or administration.

The Ottawa Hospital is a 1150 bed tertiary-care hospital serving Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec at four inpatient sites (Civic, General, Heart Institute, and the Rehabilitation Centre) and one ambulatory centre (Riverside). There are approximately 50,000 inpatient admissions, 160,000 emergency visits and over one million outpatient visits annually.

The income for this position is derived from a variety of sources including but not limited to clinical billings (fee-for-service) and stipends for academic activities.
