MACHINE MECHANIC (PERMANENT)

Qualifications:

  • Standard 8/Grade 10
  • Relevant Trade

Experience:

  • Three years’ industrial experience •Two years’ experience in maintenance, repair and operation of specialized fashion equipment in the production room and garment laboratories •Working experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, with a work focus on either electrical, mechanical or sewing processes.

Key Performance Areas:

•Maintain all equipment in the laboratory and prepare and set up equipment for teaching • Guide students in correct handling and maintenance of equipment •Keep attendance registers of laboratory users and a logbook of machine utilization• Assist with selection and registration of students •Attend meetings: Faculty Board, Departmental, Staff Advisory Committee and Disciplinary •Interact with students and assist students with machine operation and sewing •Adhere to safety rules of the laboratories and keep abreast to Technological Developments in the Clothing industry machines •Facilitates laboratory training and assist lecturers in machine operations during scheduled class times •Facilitating time table control of the laboratories • Guiding and tutoring students while using the laboratories •Control and maintain storeroom and keep stock record• Keep record of items issued to students for kit fee charges. Issue kit fee items• Ordering, buying and control materials for classes and departmental Functions• Any other duties relevant to the supervision of the Laboratories as assigned by the HOD.
