About the Scholarship

The Roberta Mead Scholarship aims to support the development of practicing facilitators in Western Australia by providing funds (Annual Scholarship) to encourage international or national participation in a learning event which will develop Facilitation knowledge and skills.

This may be such things as attending the IAF Conference, or attending a particular training program.

Available funds

The “Scholarship Funds” will be provided by the “Nulsen Haven Foundation – Roberta Mead Scholarship”

The amount of the annual scholarship will be to cover costs of attending the learning event up to a maximum of $4,000.


The amount of $4,000 is available for the costs to cover elements of:

·  Registration fees or course fees for the event;

·  Airfares and travel costs directly to the location from the scholarship recipient’s home; and

·  Single accommodation for the period of the event.

It will not cover costs of incidental travel, attendance at additional workshops or learning events, social events.

Applicants are required to submit a detailed costing with their application.

Conditions

The Scholarship will need to be used within the ensuing 12 months;

The successful applicant will be required to share their learning/experience with other WA facilitators at a ½ professional development event within 4 months of the completion of their learning experience.

Applications will need to address the selection criteria;

Selection Criteria

1.  The applicant must be a resident of Western Australia;

2.  Facilitation must be an important part of the applicant’s work, which (s)he uses skillfully and creatively;

3.  The applicant should be a ‘business” facilitator. This will be demonstrated through evidence that (s)he uses facilitation skills at least some of the time in worthwhile business projects;

4.  The applicant demonstrates a track record of helping other facilitators to improve their knowledge and practice;

5.  The applicant should potentially be an important future contributor to facilitation theory and practice, who would benefit from having international contacts

The successful applicant will be advised by (August 2009)
