APPLICATION: YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD

Born This Way Foundation (BTWF) seeks to form a diverse, dynamic group of 6 – 8 young leadersfrom across the US who will advise the Foundation with honest, constructive feedback on how best to engage youth in co-creating a kinder, braver world. The members of the Youth Advisory Board (YAB), in addition to their role as advisors, will support the foundation in one of three areas:Relationships (Organizational Partnerships), Research + Real Stories.

ApplicantsMust:

  • Be 16 - 22 years old (If under the age of 18,have parental consent to participate)
  • Subscribe to the Foundation's principles and goal to promote respect, acceptance, kindness, and courage in and toward all individuals.
  • Have excellent communication skills and will commit to being highly accessible through their terms of service on the YAB.
  • Demonstrated leadership and kindness and bravery in their every day lives.
  • Be available 8 – 10 hours per month to support ongoing foundation programming, serve on a committee in line with one of the three areas described above, and engage with foundation staff.
  • Sign aNon-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) in order for Born This Way to freely share information about our programs and initiatives, and respect the privacy of our partners and supporters. For applicants under the age of 18, your parent/guardian must sign the NDA on your behalf.
  • Abide by a code of conduct in line with the foundation’s values of kindness, respect, inclusivity and bravery.
  • Understand that their work with the foundation is focused on service and social change, not self-promotion.
  • Make themselves available for a two day (weekend) convening in March 2015 in Los Angeles (all expenses paid by the foundation)
  • Agree to a twelve-month term of service from date of appointment.

YAB Position Description

  1. Serve as a representative of the foundation and its activities in their home communities.
  2. Spend 8 – 10 hours per month on work related to Born This Way Foundation, and serve on a YAB committee.
  3. Participate in regular conference calls with the YAB and foundation team members.
  4. Provide ideas for incorporating Born This Way Foundation activities locally.
  5. Be available to participate in on-line forums and scheduled feedback sessions.
  6. Be available to volunteer for foundation related events.
