DOMESTIC ANIMALS ACT 1994

All dogs and cats three months of age or older must be registered. The owner of a dog or cat who fails to register his/her animal may be liable to an on-the-spot fine for each unregistered animal. If a child under 17 has a dog or cat it must be registered in the parent's or guardian's name.

Replacement registration tags can be obtained free of charge from any Customer Service Centre.

Cats must be contained from sunset to sunrise. Does your property comply with cat confinement requirements.

For entitlement to reduced registration fees, proof of sterilisation, microchip implant, membership of an approved association, obedience papers, breeding license, statutory declaration or tax return for proof of working dog status is required.

Holders of eligible pension cards are entitled to a reduction as listed in the fees for pensioners. Please present your card in person at the time of registration. Please note Health Care Card holders are not entitled to reduced fees.

Registration fees include the State Government Levy pursuant to the Domestic Animals Act 1994.

Owners of unregistered animals may receive on-the- spot fines for each animal. Registration checks will commence after 10 April.

Once your registration fee is paid this notice will be deemed to be your certificate of registration. Your registration tag is not valid until payment is made.

Registration refunds for deceased animals are available subject to Council Policy.

Permits must be obtained to keep more than the permitted number of dogs and cats as prescribed in Councils Neighbourhood Amenity Local Law 2014.
