AP Human Geography - Varley
Political Geography Project (5 Summative Points)
As we enter Chapter 8, we will be studying political boundaries in the world. We will discuss how political boundaries are created, and why, sometimes, these boundaries cause tension. For this unit, you will be completing a project that examines an area in the world that is experiencing tension, or has experienced it, as a result of political geography. Presentations are due and will begin on Thursday, December 10th. Your presentation must be given to me in one of three ways: Google Docs, email with presentation attached, or saved on a flashdrive. No more than three members per group. You can use Ch.7, Ch. 8, and reputable resources found on Internet. If your group is not ready to present your presentation grade will be dropped one letter grade.

THE PROJECT WILL CONSIST OF THESE PARTS:
1. GROUP PRESENATION: This presentation will cover the basics of the conflict that your group will be covering. The presentation should give the class an overview of the conflict.
- Who is it between and what are they fighting over?
- Why is the piece of territory important? (Cultural, strategic, historical, valuable due to resources located there ...)
- Do not kill the class with too much information, but you should know more than the information you share with the class.
2. POWER POINT – INFORMATION - The power point should contain:
- At least 2 maps – one map should be of the world to show the location of the conflict and the other a detailed map of the region. You should place the world map towards the beginning of your presentation so your classmates have an understanding of this conflict’s location in the world.
- Your power point should contain information you want your classmates to know about the situation, without overloading them.
- Last slide is a works cited page. You must cite all the resources that you use.
3. POWER POINT – CREATIVITY: Keep your classmates engaged – show them the conflict, don’t just tell them about it.
4. 2 QUESTIONS FOR THE EXAM:
- Each group will write 2 multiple-choice questions that may be used on the exam. You must include the questions somewhere in your power point.
- Each question must be multiple-choice and have several answers, plus the correct one identified in the power point.
