However, if you achieved a 2:2 in your undergraduate degree or entered law through a non-traditional route you should give serious consideration to providing a reference in support of your application. This reference need not be academic and can relate to professional experience such as volunteer work, work placements or previous career experience (not necessarily law). Application Criteria

Your completed application form should demonstrate that you meet all application criteria. If your application does not meet the criteria you cannot be offered a place.

1.  The proposed dissertation topic is of sufficient quality and is suitable. This includes the proposed coverage and methodology.

For example, your proposed topic should have a professional rather than academic focus and you should demonstrate the potential for originality of thought whether in subject matter or interpretation. You should also be clear about your initial research methodology (non-exhaustive).

2.  Suitable reasons for wishing to complete the dissertation, including motivation and the appropriateness of the proposed dissertation within the applicant's developing career.

For example you should demonstrate that the proposed dissertation topic will aid you future career (non-exhaustive).

3.  High quality academic and/or professional skills, ability and experience sufficient to enable completion of the dissertation to the required standard.

It is not compulsory to submit a reference but you should consider doing so if you feel that you will have difficulty meeting some or all of criterion 3.

4.  Satisfactory attendance at and performance on the LPC.

If your attendance and/or performance on the LPC do not reflect your potential you should consider providing a reference and/or explanation.

Note to Applicants: If your title is accepted, you will not be permitted to change the title of your dissertation (except for minor changes). You are not permitted to switch to a new topic once accepted onto the Course
