AP Exams at Magruder – What you need to know

2)Know your AP Exam schedule!!

Log back in to Total Registration and print/record your own exam schedule so you know what dates your exams are on and whether they are morning or noon exams.

3)Where do I go on exam day?

Morning exams – You need to arrive by 7:40 AM and go upstairs to the area outside of the Media Center. There will be a check-in table where you will be marked for attendance and any attendance notes will be collected. You need to be in this area on time so you will know the exact location you will be testing in.

Noon exams – You need to arrive by 11:40 AM and gather in the area outside of the auditorium. There will be a check-in table where you will be marked for attendance and any attendance notes will be collected. You need to be in this area on time so you will know the exact location you will be testing in.

4)Attendance & Transportation

If you wish to leave early or come in late on the day of your exam(s) it is an excused absence as long as you have a note from a parent/guardian. Attendance notes will be collected prior to the start of each exam. Please note: you may not leave the exam room until the exam administration has officially concluded.

For students taking noon exams:

  1. If you are planning to arrive late to school, you are responsible for transportation to the school and for reporting by 11:40 AM. MCPS does not provide late transportation for noon AP exams.
  2. You will need to arrange for transportation home on exam day. Most exams are approximately 3 hours (you should review the length of your specific exam). There is a late activity bus available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Please see Mrs. Snyder if you need more details on this transportation option.

5)Nutrition

A light snack and water will be available during a break in the exam. Please eat a good breakfast and/or lunch prior to your exams as many of the exams last 3+ hours.

6)What to bring

Number 2 pencils (NOT mechanical pencils) – bring several and make sure they have erasers.

Black or blue ink pens

A watch – not a smart watch, and make sure all alarms are off.

AP Physics C: Mechanics Exam only – A ruler or straightedge. Protractors are NOT allowed.

AP Biology, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Chemistry, & AP Physics C: Mechanics - Please review the College Board’s calculator policy so you know what type of calculator is required for your exam(s). You are responsible for bringing a calculator to the exam. If you do not already have a calculator, please speak to your teacher or Mrs. Snyder well before exam day.

7)What Not to Bring

Electronic equipment including cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, etc.

Mechanical pencils, highlighters, books

Food or drink
