‍‍‍AGENDA ITEMS:

ITEM #1. Proofreaders for the April 30, 2013 minutes: Kris Tiles, Bill Hubbard and Sandy Smith

ITEM #2. Approval of March 26, 2013 Minutes: Tiles made and Bardon seconded a motion to accept the minutes of March 26, 2013 meeting. The motion was unanimously approved.

ITEM #3. Galaxy IV Update: Mindy Habecker gave updates from the Galaxy IV steering committee meeting regarding ANREP banquet details that need decisions. She also updated the group on the auction (both live and silent) that will potentially generate funds for ANREP if we donate items, and the need for more exhibitors and sponsors, especially organizations and companies within 300 miles of Pittsburgh. The funds raised at the auctions will be given to the organization that donated the items. Smith, Habecker, and anyone else who is interested will make the necessary decisions regarding the banquet.

ITEM #4. Treasurer's Report: Greg Frey reported that the 2013 financial budget is on the wiki site and he will be putting all the financial information there. No outstanding financial information for April. We have about a $17,000 CD with Bank of America. It will mature on May 19, 2013. Frey recommends that we roll it in another 12 month CD and earn a little interest. Habecker made and Jones seconded a motion to roll the $17,000 into another 12 month CD when it matures next month. The motion was unanimously approved.

ITEM #5. D.C. Updates: Eric Norland. Not present due to a scheduling conflict with a NIFA meeting.

ITEM #6. Executive Secretary’s Report: Bill Hubbard. Hubbard continues to work with the IRS on renewing our nonprofit status. We have approximately 50% renewal on dues (this is normal based on the last several years experience). Working closely with everyone to set up togomeetings.com meetings. Working to renew our corporate registration with the state of GA. Darryl has been doing a great job updating the website with current information. Have worked to move the communication system to Constant Contact for e-mail distribution. Darryl is unable to make the call because of a conflict but he is ready for input. The Board can review the new ANREP test site at http://new.anrep.org.

ITEM #7. President's Report – Sanford “Sandy” Smith reported that:

Strength Finder Training Update: Next Monday, May 6 from 2-4pm EST will be our first Strength Finder training. Get top 5 strengths to the trainers ASAP.

ANREP Newsletter Articles: Smith would like to see the regional representatives featured. Smith requested that regional representatives write a brief bio and why they are members of ANREP. Tiles agreed to do the first draft of this.

ITEM #8. CSI Conference Proposal Support Request: Chris Jones. Smith thinks that the amount we grant for scholarships for this should coincide with scholarships we give to other professional conferences. This has been $250. Bardon moved and Henderson seconded a motion that the CSI Conference proposal be funded with $5,000 of support. This will be used to give out $250 scholarships to ANREP members in good standing who wish to attend. The motion was unanimously approved. Discussion arose as to how the scholarship recipients are going to be selected. Jones was considering first-come-first serve. There was also a process developed for ANREP members who received scholarships for the ANREP 2012 conference. This is just a workshop and not a conference, so may wish to keep it simple and make it first-come-first serve. A lottery system also received positive feedback if a deadline is used. Jones will make the decision on this with the Board encouraging a fair system for the selection process. Jones wants to keep the procedure simple.

ITEM #9. Professional Development (PD) Committee Report: Eleanor Burkett reported that there is a new look to the ANREP website for professional development webinars. These are ANREP sponsored webinars on the website. Also we will be putting up a list of resources such as learning new skills or tools that are being well done but our members might not know about. These resources will also be added. This is a test site and it may be given more prominence on the real website. Need to make sure that what we state that this is one of the member benefits such as the newsletter, and is not just open to all including non-members via the website. This needs more deliberation as to what is available to only members and what is open to all. Also our ANREP webinars only have connections for 200 people. Constant Contact may be the new communication platform that will be used to send out newsletters.

ITEM #10. PILD Wrap-up: James Henderson attended PILD this month. Henderson was able to give an update at the JCEP NIFA luncheon on our upcoming webinars and a national in-service on climate change. He also noted that the ANREP Board was going through some leadership training on StrengthFinder and that our next national conference in 2014 will be in Sacramento, CA. Henderson outlined key presenters and what they talked about. The following are highlights from the luncheon presenters:

Please upload impact statements. ECOP was pleased with NEAFCS impact statement series shared at the luncheon. A database to tell our story.

From: http://excellence.tamu.edu/database “The Strategic Opportunities and Measuring Excellence Database is sponsored by the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy for the purpose of documenting institutional-level indicators of Extension’s success. The usefulness of this database will depend on the extent of participation of land-grant institutions and the quality of the information each institution provides. Hopefully your institution will benefit many times over from the time and effort you invest in the completion of this task. Thank you for cooperating with this important effort.”

The WIFI system at PILD was not able to transmit the ANREP webinar in a complete fashion. It was noted that future webinars not rely on wireless systems and be hard-wired only. However, people at other sites were able to connect and get audio. This webinar was recorded and is now on the ANREP website under “Resources”
