Announcing the Fifth Annual CCQ Internal Student Research Grant

The Office of Scientific and Academic Research (OSAR) at CCQ is committed to creating and advancing innovativeresearchand strengthening internal and external partnerships for future nationally-competitive grant proposals. With this in mind, OSAR is pleased to announce the Fifth Annual CCQ Internal Student Research Grant for 2017-2018. This grant provides up to ten thousand Qatari Riyals (10,000 QR) for a research project aimed at emphasizing the importance of research and collaboration between faculty and students on projects conducted in the interest of CCQ and the state of Qatar.The grant coversstipends for student researchers and a faculty advisor. Initial research proposals arevettedfor content and compliance to OSARresearch requirements.All proposals are reviewed in a "double-blind" peer review manner for academic rigor and depth by an independent panel ofthree or more qualified faculty memberswith relevant expertise. The panel then reports its recommendations to the OSAR Committee. On the basis of those recommendations, the OSAR Committeeconvenes and allocates the student research grants according to the program’s guidelines and budget. (Please refer to the conditionsbelow).

OSAR looks forward to supportingfaculty professional development via research activities and fostering new projects within the College and the State of Qatar.

CCQ Internal grants are governed by the following conditions:

  • The Principal Advisor(PA) must be a member ofCCQ faculty.
  • The PAsupervises a research project that involves two CCQ Investigators (transition-level or college-level students).
  • The project is relevant to CCQ’s goals,the goals of the State of Qatar, and the PA'sdiscipline.
  • Approvals are subject to a "double-blind" peer-review process.
  • OSAR selects and awards one project from each discipline for a maximum of eight grants per annual cycle.
  • The duration of the CCQ Internal Student Research Grant is six months.
  • All projects are publicly presented to CCQ faculty, staff, and students on Research Day onWednesdayMay 2, 2018.
  • Each project is funded up to a maximum of QR 10,000.
  • Students receive a stipend of QR 3,000 each and faculty PA a stipend of QR 4,000.
  • Funds for equipment, supplies, and miscellaneous items are subject to approval by the College Dean. OSAR will not assume responsibility for the application regarding these funds.
  • Twenty-five percent of the stipend will be disbursed upon OSAR approval of the mid-Progress Report and submission of ongoing background research and references(February 14, 2018).
  • The remaining seventy-five percent of the stipend will be disbursed after OSAR approval of the Final Research Report, Oral Presentation, and submission of updated background research and complete references (May 10, 2018).
  • The 2017-2018 research cycle isopen to the following:
  • College-level faculty and students in either the English-Track or Arabic-Track programs.
  • ELC faculty and Transition faculty with transition-level or college-level students in either the English-Track or Arabic-Track programs.

  • Proposalsare welcome from October 12to October 28, 2017 at midnight.
  • Awardees will be announced byNovember 5, 2017.
  • Mid-Research Progress Report and submission of ongoing background research and references are due byWednesday February 14, 2018.
  • The Final Research Report and submission of updated background research and complete references are due byWednesday May 2, 2018.
  • Student presentations will take place on Research Day on Wednesday May 9, 2018.

The CCQ Internal Student Research Grant Information Session is scheduled for October 18, 2017at the Lusail female campus auditorium from 12:30 - 1:30pm and at theLusail male campus auditorium from 1:30 - 2:00pm.
