Good Afternoon, this is Steve Mares, principal of Broughton High School with announcements for the upcoming week. A copy of these announcements will be posted on our school website and e-mailed to the Broughton email group.
Information for Sophomores or Juniors who are interested in taking the PSAT was shared in a letter that has been posted to our website and sent out to the Broughton email groups. The PSAT will be administered at Broughton High School on Saturday, October 15th, and the deadline for students to register for this test administration is next Friday, September 16th.
The Broughton Band Boosters will be hosting a silent auction tomorrow, Saturday, September 10th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Small Gym.They have over $12,000 worth of merchandise including a weekend house to Lake Lure, museum passes, signed sports memorabilia, original art, game tickets, and much more!Come out and support the Broughton Band Program and bid on some really great items!
Any Freshman who is interested in applying to serve on the Freshmen Class Council or Freshmen Executive Cabinet may pick up an application in room 2402 before school, during 1st lunch, or after school.Applications are due to Ms. Pattisall-Williams in room 2402 by 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13th. The first PTSA meeting of the year will be held on Monday, September 12th, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Media Center. All parents are invited to attend.
Student pictures will be taken next week on Monday, September 12th, during Second Period. School picture information was provided to students this week.
Please remember that we will host our Open House on Tuesday evening, September 13th, beginning at 5:45 p.m. and concluding at 7:45 p.m. This is a great opportunity to walk your student’s schedule and meet your student’s teachers. Please see the Broughton website for a detailed schedule. Also, we have a home Junior Varsity and Varsity Volleyball game that night and we will have free admission to the games. So, please stop by Holliday Gym and enjoy supporting our student athletes. Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our students, our teachers, and our school!
Our Broughton Student Government and the Inter-Club Council will sponsor a Club Fair this coming Friday, September 16th, during both lunches near the picnic area.Broughton clubs and organizations will display information and have representatives to answer questions about membership, purpose, and meeting times. Please encourage your student to find ways to connect to school and follow his/her passions.
A reminder to students and families that our school-wide Tardy Sweep has begun. Our expectation is that students are in class, on-time and ready for learning each period.
Next Friday, September 16th marks the beginning of CAPS Camp. This is a special program that is unique to Broughton and I would ask that you keep our students and staff in your thoughts as they participate in boundary breaking, team building, and leadership activities all next weekend.
Senior parents, please remember that our Guidance Counselors are scheduling Senior meetings with any Senior and his/her family who would like to meet. Please work with your student to sign up for one of these conferences to help us support you and your student in reaching his/her goals.
We continue to follow-up with students who are not dressed according to the dress code. Please help your student stay in compliance by following the guidelines and dressing appropriately. Thank you for your support of our efforts with regards to the dress code and maintaining a safe school climate conducive to learning.
I would like to remind all students and parents that students are not allowed to leave the campus during the school day. The only students authorized to leave campus during the day are students who have an Internship or a Release Period. During lunch, only Juniors and Seniors who have an approved Off-Campus Lunch Pass are allowed to leave campus or go to their cars. Please help us remind our students to stay on campus and not be tempted to leave campus during the day. Thank you for your support of the safety of our students.
Please continue to support our student athletes as they compete on the field, track, and court! At least one of our athletic teams is competing almost every night of the week in some sport. We do have a home football game against Cardinal Gibbons this evening beginning at 7:00 p.m. Please stay up with our Athletic Team schedules by checking out the Broughton Athletics website.
