  • Have previous evidence of strategic planning with tangible evidence of impact
  • Demonstrate the ability to distil conflicting demands to develop clear objectives that are embraced by staff, parents/carers and students
  • Demonstrable experience of translating the objectives into achievable targets within an Academy Improvement Plan

Leading, Learning and Teaching /
  • An understanding of the needs of a city Academy
  • Proven ability to raise staff expectations and student aspirations through appropriate monitoring, assessment, personal development and target setting
  • Demonstrable recent and successful experience in teaching to KS3, 4 and 5, based upon an up to date understanding of National Curriculum requirements an d present DfE guidance, with the proven ability to inspire others with good practice
  • Evidence of effective behaviour and pastoral management to develop a positive ethos and working environment so as to maximise progress and achievement
  • Commitment to giving visible support to all facets of Academy life, including Grace values, the broad range of extra-curricular and enrichment activities

Developing Self and Working with Others /
  • Clear evidence of working within and developing and building an effective team,
  • Ability to take difficult decisions and convey outcomes clearly and sensitively within an open, fair and equitable culture
  • Evidence of an ability to develop, monitor and manage a subject curriculum through an effective teaching community catering for all student backgrounds and abilities

Managing the Organisation /
  • Evidence of managerial responsibility to create a safe and effective environment to meet the teaching need
  • Ability to demonstrate a sound understanding of financial management and planning
  • Evidence of an ability to prioritise objectives to create sustainable operation within budget parameters

Securing Accountability /
  • Ability to build and maintain effective Quality Assurance partnerships within Grace Academy, external agencies, partners and stakeholders

Strengthening Community /
  • Ability to develop the appropriate ethos and ownership with all parties in order to maximise achievement
  • Ability to establish appropriate partnerships with Universities, Colleges and other institutions in order to maximise student aspiration and development
