Foster Home Agreement

This agreement is entered into between Animal Rescue League of Marshalltown (hereinafter referred to as ARL) and the undersigned (hereinafter referred to as Foster Person).

1.Foster Person agrees to give the rescued animal food, indoor shelter, medical treatment, a safe and secure environment, and a kind and loving home for a limited period of time. Foster Family agrees to quarterly inspections of the foster home by an ARL employee. If the ARL determines that the foster home has become unacceptable, the ARL will seize the animal immediately. Foster homes found to be unacceptable will be subject to any or all of the animal neglect and cruelty laws, as defined by city, county, or state codes.

2. Foster Home agrees to notify the ARL immediately if the foster animal escapes.

3.Foster Person understands that ARL has no prior knowledge of the animal’s temperament, and will take due care to protect anyone who may come into contact with the animal from harm.

4.Foster Person will not seek to hold ARL responsible for damage to persons, property, or injury to other animals.

5.The ARL will incur the costs associated with spay or neuter of the animal. Spay/ neuter of the animal should be taken care of in 10 business days with the following exceptions; lactating females with their young and animals too young for spay / neuter procedure.

6.Foster Person agrees that any animal fostered by him/her remains the property of ARL, and that Foster Person will not relocate the animal from the primary residence of the Foster Person or dispose of it in any manner without prior notice and approval by the ARL.

7.All foster homes must complete an adoption application. The application must be approved in order to allow fostering. Foster homes must re-submit annually to continue being a foster home.

8.Any foster person deciding to adopt the animal in their care may do so upon approval by the Director. Fees will be reduced based upon the ARL’s investment in the animal and length of time the animal has been in foster care.

9.Foster person will make all attempts to return the animal to the ARL to be seen by potential new families within 24 hours of the initial request.

10. ARL can terminate the fostering agreement at anytime and the foster person shall return the animal within 24 hours of the initial request.

11. Foster person can terminate the fostering agreement at anytime and shall return the animal within 24 hours of notifying the ARL of termination.

12. Foster person(s) will make no commitments to a third party in regards to permanent placement of the animals in their care. Only designated ARL employees may approve potential adoptive homes.
