ANDREW LEVENS TRAVEL BURSARY

APPLICATION FORM

The Andrew Levens Travel bursary, worth up to £500, may be offered after the submission of an application form and consideration of its merits by the ALTB committee. This is opento junior members of the University whose course of study includes Russian. The primary object of the bursary is to assist travel to an area which is predominantly Russianspeaking and which was formerly included in the Soviet Union.

Applicants should provide details of a specific project which will contribute toward their studies in some way; this is not in the first instance a topup fund for those spending their Year Abroad in Russia. Prospective candidates will be expected to provide a detailed estimate of expenses under the following headings: tuition costs (where applicable); fare (APEX or equivalent); insurance, visa fees; accommodation and daytoday expenses.

In determining an award, the committee will consider the merits of theproposed project and will also take into account the applicant's year of study and any expression of personal qualities which demonstrate his or her ability, when visiting the country, to overcome language barriers and to make friends.

When candidates have filled in the details requested below, they should forward the form to their tutor in Russian, who should vet the proposal that they have given, and supply a brief reference on page 2.
