Dear parents

“OUR BEST ALWAYS”

CONGRATULATIONS TO US!

Botany Downs Primary has won third prize in the Colgate carton race this year! We will be receiving $3,000 for our school. A huge thank you to everyone who brought in your Colgate cartons, purchased Colgate in the groceries and brushed your teeth extra well so that we could win this amazing prize. Thanks to those students who made posters for around our school and community, they worked a treat! Ms Pearce

(And THANKYOU to Paula Pearce for organising this! Mr T).

Opening of Additional Classroom

Our current total school roll is 503. Today we are opening up room 18, which we have until now been using as our music room, as another new entrant room. Music will operate from the staffroom.

Welcome to Mrs Darlene Farmer, who is joining our school today to teach Room 18. Welcome also to Mrs Linda Haaker, who is sharing the teaching role in Room 14.

Property Work

·  New carpet has been laid in the hall foyer and corridor.

·  The bark in the senior playground has been replenished.

FANTASTIC FRIDAY!

On Friday, we will be very busy! It is House Day, Daffodil Day and Botany’s Got Talent Finals Day!

We would like to encourage all children to wear their House T-shirts on Friday, as we will have some fun House activities during block 2 on Friday. These will be run by our awesome House Leaders.

The House Leaders will also be selling daffodils before school and during morning tea. This is to help raise funds for the Cancer Society. Please support this worthy cause by giving your children a gold coin to buy a daffodil.

During block 3, the whole school will be attending the Botany’s Got Talent Finals in the school hall. There will be no cost for this. Thank you to all children who have taken part in the auditions. We have enjoyed seeing all the talent in the school. Good luck to the finalists – a list of names of children who have been chosen by the House Leaders to participate in the Finals will be posted in Tuesday’s bulletin and it will also be put up on the doors of room 15. Parents are welcome to attend the Finals. We plan to start at about 1.40pm. Erna Bornman

Values Programme

As we head towards the 2nd half of term 3 we focus on a new school value-COOPERATION. The students are given many opportunities in class and out to use the skill of cooperation with friends, teachers and peers. We talk about cooperation in class and we stress its importance when doing subjects like Inquiry, Maths and Reading when group work and buddy work is often expected. If you get the opportunity at home please take a few minutes to discuss the importance of cooperation; in a family, at school, with friends, at work, at church etc. Let’s hope the weather now cooperates and brightens up for us all. Amanda Foot

Well done also to the following children, who will be acknowledged at Friday’s assembly for showing consideration towards others: Yuheng Zhu, Linaya Rungan, Dylan Hartnoll, Brianna Sansom, Xavier Luafutu-Tamati, Oscar McGregor, Candy Huang, Harley Dawson, Sofia Currie, Izelle Steyn, Jairus Petelo-Vili, Callum White, Elkanah Petelo-Vili, Nicholas Smith, Jasmine de Kock and Brandon Tohovaka
