PERTH’S 96FM WELCOMES DOUG TERRY TO NIGHTS

AND ANNOUNCES NEW LOCAL DRIVE SHOW FOR THE SUMMER BREAK

Australian Radio Network (ARN) is excited to announce Doug Terry will be joining Perth’s 96FM with a new nights show in January 2016.

Born and raised in Queensland, Doug’s radio career took him all over Australia and even the US, before he made the permanent move to Western Australia to take up a role at RadioWest Albany. Since 2012 has been a breakfast radio co-host on RadioWest Southwest.

Doug joins Perth’s own Carmen & Fitzi for Breakfast, and national KIIS Network’s Hughesy & Kate for the Drive home, on the new-look 96FM.

Doug says he fell hard for the beauty of WA, the state he now calls home, and wouldn’t have it any other way.

“I moved to WA on a whim and now can’t imagine ever leaving. I love the beautiful beaches, yes ok, I’ll admit they are better than Queensland’s, the lifestyle here is hard to beat and I’ve even grown to love downing the pricey pints,” he said.

“I’ve always been passionate about music and I’m really excited to be joining 96FM, a station with such a rich history in Perth. I can’t wait to be hanging out with you every weeknight, so get pumped Perth it’s going to be awesome.”

Doug’s new nights show on 96FM is part of ARN’s ongoing strategy to breathe new life into the heritage station while ‘Keeping it Real’ by celebrating more of the music and entertainment that Perth loves. His appointment comes hot off the heels of 96FM’s recent rebrand following the station joining ARN’s National KIIS Network earlier this year.

ARN’s National Content Director Duncan Campbell said he was thrilled to be able to add great, local on-air talent like Doug to the 96FM team.

“Doug is a great talent and I know 96FM’s listeners will love his genuine, fun and down to earth style. Teaming up with Perth’s own Carmen & Fitzi for Breakfast and National KIIS Network’s Hughesy & Kate for the Drive home, Doug’s night show will strengthen 96FM’s offering for the people of Perth, from the moment they wake up through to the very end of their day,” he said.

ARN’s Perth Commercial Director, Rick Dalton, said the inclusion of more local talent and content ensured 96FM would continue to have a compelling offering for advertisers and clients.

“The evolution of 96FM, including the station joining the KIIS Network, has already proved to be very positive for advertisers and clients alike, allowing us to deliver effective and fully integrated national campaign offerings. But we know keeping the strong heritage of 96FM and showcasing great local on-air talent and content is also very important to the station’s ongoing success and growth in the market, so we are excited to have a great local nights show added to the mix at 96FM.”

Adding to the local content line-up on 96FM, across the summer break, as all shows take a well-deserved holiday, the station will also welcome a new 4pm – 6pm Drive show, The Summer Rush Home with Dani and Hoggy.

Airing from Monday December 7th until Christmas and then returning after the New Year break until January 8, the show features much-loved WA cricketing legend Brad Hogg and journalist and experienced radio presenter Dani Pola.

Both born and bred in WA, Dani and Hoggy are excited to be joining forces to get Perth home every week day over the summer break. Whether you are rushing home from work to enjoy the long summer nights or rushing from the beach to a mate’s place for a barbecue, Dani and Hoggy will be keeping it real for you with fun, laughs and great music.

Duncan Campbell explains further: “It may be a ratings rest period but we know that listening habits really don’t change over the summer break. If anything, fans are actually listening for longer periods of time, so having a fantastic show on air is great news for both our audiences and advertisers.”

4-6pm - The Summer Rush Home with Dani and Hoggy – from December 7 – January 8 2016

7-10pm – 96FM Nights with Dougie – from January 18 2016
