Late Work: It is the policy of the Lawndale Science Department that late work is not accepted with the exception of excused absences (see below).

Academic Honesty:All work turned in is expected to be your own original work. Academic dishonesty such as cheating, plagiarism and copying will not be tolerated. The first offense will receive a zero on the assignment. If it continues to be a problem it will be referred to administration and you could be suspended or expelled.

Attendance:

Students are expected to be in class on time each day. Attending class is one of the most important factors for success in this course.

Tardies:

You are considered tardy if you arrive late or if you are not in your seat working on the warm-up when the tardy bell rings. For each tardy, you will be warned that you were tardy. If you receive 3 tardies within each five week grading period for this class you will earn a ‘U’ as your citizenship grade. If you accumulate ‘U’s you will become ineligible for sports and extracurricular activities.

Absences:

If your absence is excused, you will be able to make up your work for full credit. You will have as many days as you were absent to turn in any missing assignments. Missed tests must be made up within one week of the original test date. If you make up the test after 1 week you will only be able to earn a 50% at best. Missed labs cannot be made up; you will receive an alternative assignment as make-up. It is YOUR responsibility to arrange to make up missed work outside of class time (before or after school or at lunchtime). If your absence is not excused, you will receive a zero on any missed work, tests, or labs.
