The meeting was called to order by Dr. P.S. Jevoor, President of Anatomical Society of India.
OBITUARY: Members were informed about the sad demise of 8 fellow anatomists: Dr. N. K. Keswani (USA), Dr. V. A. Shinde (Bhopal), Dr. P.Jeya Singh (Thrissur), Dr. C. M. Indurkar (Nagpur), Dr. Devarshi (Aurangabad), Dr. Nanjundappa (Davengere), Dr. A. M. Vare (Aurangabad) & Dr. S. Faqruddin (Aurangabad). Members stood in silence for 2 minutes to mourn and pray the Almighty to grant peace to the departed souls and provide strength to the members of the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss. It was resolved that condolence message be sent by General Secretary to members of the bereaved families.
Min. 1/11:Members acknowledged the receipt of the minutes of last General Body meeting held in the auditorium of Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil Memorial Medical College, Pimpri, Pune on 28th December, 2011 & circulated vide no. ASI/11-Min (ii) /Secy-18, on 3rd March 2011. The minutes of G. B. were approved with modification in Min 2/10-ix (a) Treasurer Budget for 2011 be read as Rs. 35000/- plus cost of new L. M. certificate inplace of Rs. 25000/- plus cost of new L. M. certificates.
Min 2/11 None
Min 3/11 Members were apprised of the decisions of the Executive Committee Meeting held on 26th December, 2011 held at Sri Aurobindo Medical College & Postgraduate Institute, Indore. The following decisions were also approved by the General Body.
(i)Fellowship of ASI : On the basis of recommendations submitted by Sub-committee & approved by General Body in 2010. The Executive Committee constituted a new committee consisting of : Dr. Mahdi Hasan (Chairman), Dr. A. Krishnamurti, Dr. D. R. Singh, Dr. B. R. Zambare, Dr. G. P. Pal, Dr. S. D. Joshi, Dr. S. K. De & General Secretary, This committee was entrusted following work :
(a) They will make /Identify 5 zones as North / South / East / West & Central zones.
(b) They will identify the states to be included in each zone.
(c) They will select only 50 founder fellows (As decided in last G.B. of 2010) preferably 10 from each zone.
Subsequently 10 every near, (preferably 2 from each zone) & maximum number not to exceed 200. (d) Criteria for selection will be age, qualifications, number of publications, contributions to the society, number of conferences attended. He/she should be a life member of the society.
(e) This committee will submit list of proposed founder fellows for consideration in the next E.C.
(f) The committee will also frame rules & regulation for academy, fees & the procedure for selection of
fellows in the subsequent years.
(g) The academy will function as integral part of anatomical society of India.
(h) A letter to this effect will be sent to Prof. Mahdi Hasan by the General Secretary.
ii)Prof. Indarjit Dewan Life time achievement award :
a)E.C. nominated 3 life members : Dr. G. B. Rairam, Dr. S. D. Joshi & Dr. A. Sahai as member of the
committee in addition to President & General Secretary. This committee will suggest the name for which
they may gather necessary information if required to finalise the name. Not more than one member to be
awarded each year.
b)Clause of fee of Rs. 8000/- was deleted.
c)An oration of his choice to be delivered in next conference.
d)Free local hospitality & travel grant upto Rs. 10000/-
e)Award will consist of a citation certificate, scroll, plaque & a shawl, as approved in the General Body
meeting of 2010.
The search committee will submit the name to General Secretary of A.S.I. not later than end of April 2012 for
further necessary action. This was approved.
iii)Continuation of affiliation of ASI with International Federation of Association of Anatomists (IFAA) be continued. Treasurer was requested to send the payment of dues to IFAA for 2012 also.
iv)Recommendation of editorial board as approved by E.C. were placed for approval before General Body
& are given below :-
a)Professional agencies should be contacted in view of the available details/work and editor must
clarify regarding colour printing, reviewing process, posting of journal, indexing of journal & free online
access for life & ordinary members of the society etc. This all should be done before mou is finalised.
b)Copy right part of the cover design of journal to be verified by the editor.
c)The audited income & expenditure account for F.Y. 2009-10 & 2010-11 were approved & account from
1.4.11 to 23.12.11 was returned to the editor. The editor was advised to prepare accounts from 1.4.11 to
31.3.12. and present it the next editorial board meeting.
d)National advisory board mentioned on the 1stpage of journal be changed to editorial board from the next
issue.
e)Dr. G. P. Pal suggested that to improve the presentation of journal letters to editor, reviews & news etc.
must be included in future.
f)Editor should contact indexing agencies & try to complete the indexing work of the journal
g)Regarding non-receipt of journal by various members, it was suggested that the editor should write to the zonal / regional post offices / Post Master General & member should also write to their area post offices regarding this problem of non-receipt of journal etc.
h)Editor was advised to send the journal again to the member/subscriber after receiving request of non-
receipt of journal in writing or by e-mail.
v)Audited receipt & payment account for the period 1.4.2010 to 31.3.2011 was presented by Dr. A. Sahai in the absences of treasurer Dr. A. K. Srivastava and the joint-treasurer, Dr. Punita Manik. The Accounts were approved. The house was informed that no state chapter is paying continuation of affiliation fees.
vi)General Body was informed that : a) Judges were appointed for various awards on published papers in the journal of ASI for the year 2011 (Names are confidential). b) President & both the vice-presidents were nominated as chair person & co-chair person for the oration of 2011.
vii)a) Budget approvedfor various offices of the society for 2012 is as under :-
President :Rs. 5,000/-General Secretary :Rs. 45,000/-
Trerasurer :Rs. 35,000/- plus cost of new L.M. certificatesEditor :Rs. 3,00,000/-
b) Same auditors to continue for the treasurer's & editor's offices.
c) Regarding TDS & Income tax registration - It was discussed in length & it was decided that income tax registration should be done for which services of income tax layer be taken on payment by the treasurer Dr. A. K. Srivastava.

Min 9/11General Secretary informed that various State Chapter of ASI are functioning well, but activity report has been sent by few only as given below:
a)Karnataka state chapter organised 13th annual conference at Davangere. They also organised CME on various important topics at Tumkur, Mandya & Mysore. They are also publishing a journal" Anatomica Karnataka" as state chapter journal which is indexed in Index Copernicus.
b)Orissa state chapter organised 25th (Silver Jubilee) conference in October 2011 & CME on. "Anatomical basis of knee joint replacement" at Berhampur.
c)Gujrat state chapter organised 6th annual conference at medical college, Bhavnagar, with CME cum workshop on 23rd January, 2011.
d)Bihar & Jharkand chapter organised 2nd annual conference at RIMS, Ranchi on 26th November, 2011.
e)U.P. Chapter organised annual conference at M.L.B. Medical College,Jhansi on 22nd & 23rd October 2011 & CME on "problem based learning". They are also publishing "Journal of Anatomical Sciences" regularly.
Note (i) I request all the state chapter secretaries to send regularly the activity report to General Secretary of ASI, so that it can be included in annual report
(ii). All the state chapter secretaries are requested to send continuation of affiliation fee of Rs. 100/- per annum to treasurer of ASI without any delay.
Min 10/11 Various honours & award received by department / members of the society in the year 2011 were read & approved.
i)Dr. S. Ramaswamy (Chennai) received, Dr. M.G.R. Medical University lifetime achievement award 2011. He also received Dr. (Maj) S.Srinivasan Memorial Award 2010 for senior faculty.
ii)Dr. Mahdi Hasan (Lucknow) was conferred with life time achievement award by Indian Academy of Neurosciences.
