Photo City

This application procedure addresses artists and photographers who wish to be part of the festival’s centre, Photo City, during Copenhagen Photo Festival that takes place June 1st -11th.

Photo City is curated and organised by CPF. It’s a unique centre of the festival consisting of exhibitions, workshops, artist talks, vernissages etc. created on the occasion of the festival. Photo City only exists during the festival period. Applicants should note that the space in Photo City is very limited, and for this reason CPF has to be very selective about the exhibited projects. It is a requirement that the project as a whole hasn’t been exhibited in Denmark before.

The application is processed by CPF’s manager Maja Dyrehauge Gregersen and the programme committee, consisting of Charlotte Præstegaard Schwartz, a postdoctoral fellow, Søren Pagter, head of photojournalism studies at the Danish School of Media and Journalism, and Jens Erdman Rasmussen, independent curator.

An exhibition space in Photo City at Copenhagen Photo Festival includes:

1)  Free exhibition space.

2)  Targeted PR in relation to the festival and branding on social media.

3)  The project becomes part of the printed material produced in relation to the festival.

CPF wishes to consider the exhibitors in Photo City as ambassadors for the festival. This includes promotion through a number of activities. For example participation in a video or podcast in relation to the festival, invitation to hold an artist talk during the festival and to do a ‘weekly takeover’ on the festival’s instagram profile during autumn 2017. At the same time, we kindly ask the exhibitors to share news about the festival in their own network for example via social media. This may include news about the opening party, activities related to the specific exhibition and other relevant material.

There are some general conditions related to being part of Photo City:

1)  The location of Photo City will be published as soon as possible, and the exhibitors will be notified.

2)  The exhibitors are responsible for transport of the works to and from the festival, and for putting up the exhibition and taking it down again.

3)  It is recommended that exhibitors bring their own tools.

4)  Exhibitors will be given access to Photo City from Monday on May 29th. All works should be taken down again by midnight on June 13th. CPF cannot store works when the festival is over.

5)  Unless otherwise agreed the above conditions also apply for foreign applicants. CPF cannot provide accommodation during the festival.
