AN ANCIENT LEGEND

An ancient legend says that there was once a time when all men were wise and that they possessed special powers.

Unfortunately over the years they began to misuse their powers and so at a certain point their leader decided to take their power away from them and hide it in a place that would be impossible to find.

The only problem was – where to hide it?!

All the senior members gathered together in a big circle to solve this dilemma and they started by proposing the following ideas:

"We could bury the power of man in the depths of the Earth," suggested one, but the wise chief replied:

"No, no, it’s not enough. Man will dig and dig and eventually find it. "

Another suggested:

"In that case, we could throw their power to the depths of the oceans."

Again the chief replied:

"No, no… because sooner or later man will dive down and explore all of the ocean floors and surely one day will find it and bring it back to the surface."

Then one of them made another proposal:

"We could take their power to the top of the highest mountains.”

But still the wise chief replied:

"No, no, no,.. not only will man one day scale the highest rocky peaks, but he will eventually build machines capable of exploring the heavens, and will even walk on the Moon!"

So they all concluded despondently:

"We don’t know where to hide it, because it seems it cannot be hidden on land, or at sea, or even a place in the heavens as man will surly be able to reach it sooner or later."

And so it was that the wise chief continued:

"This is what we will do with the power of man:* We will hide it deep inside of him, in his secret inner self - because it is the only place where he will never think to look for it!

Only when he has a strong, sincere and pure desire will he be able to find it. "

From that time on - concludes the legend - man has circumnavigated the world, climbed every mountain, drilled deep into the earth, submerged himself in the depths of the seas and explored the heavens in search of something… that is…. within himself!
