Description of Service / Working with clients with mental health illness of varying degrees and nature between the age of 18 – 65 and at times beyond both age limits.
Such clients can be on MHA Section or as Informal patient on admission.

  • Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team / Day Treatment – The Orchards
  • Oakdene ward – Rehabilitation ward
  • Recovery Teams – North and South – St. Mary MHC.

  • Mental Health Liaison Team - QAH

Work/Shift pattern / 37.5 hours per week.
Rotation shift pattern – of early, late, middle, and night on all days of the week.
Early shift – 07.00 hrs to 15.00 hrs
Late shift - 13.30 hrs to 21.30 hrs
Middle shift - 08.00 or 09.00 to 16.00 or 17.00hrs
Night shift – 21.00 – 07.30 hrs
Break period of 30mins per shift
Dress/Uniform code / Provided by University.
Staff room / Rest Room facilities / Staff room adjacent to CRHT upstairs. There are seating area and kitchenette
There is vending machine facility
Library / IT Resources / e-learning room separate from ward environment containing 3 work stations and library of appropriate and relevant journals.
There is book/magazine shelf in Ward Nurses’ handover room

  • Schizophrenia.
  • Bi-polar Affective Disorder with Mania, Hypomania, Depression.
  • Substance Misuse Disorders .( Psychosis )
  • Personality Disorders.

  • Creating a therapeutic environment.
  • Building a trusting and therapeutic relationship with clients to enhance their recovery.
  • Recognising clinical manifestations of mental illnesses.
  • Working with clients with complex needs and risk behaviours to manage risk and ensure safety.
  • Care Planning Process.
  • Observe some clinical auditing process.
  • Working with clients in least restricted manner and still maintain safety and effective recovery.
