JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN

REPORTING: QA Supervisor

SUMMARY: Responsible for overall process quality by safely performing all testing procedures and ensuring conformance to established specifications. Additionally, manage shift quality improvement initiatives through training, awareness, and analysis of facts and data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

·  Participate in training, embrace concepts of and actively practice the STOP Safety Program fundamentals to aid American Packaging Corporation’s efforts to achieve a zero accident rate.

·  Ensure Measurement Process Quality by keeping Lab Equipment in Calibration and Functioning through preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.

·  Analyze trends in production/process data through statistical evaluation methods.

·  Assist Quality Systems Manager in determining Process Capabilities within the Laboratory and out on the Production Floor.

·  Assist with raw material and/or quality issues; i.e., completion of and facilitation of reject/hold forms, supplier certification, customer complaint investigations, etc.

·  Participate in plant shift meetings related to quality improvement

·  Analyze and Recommend Optimal QA Testing Requirement.

·  Support Process/Product Trials through active involvement with Suppliers/Vendors, Customers, Manufacturing and Technical.

·  Maintain a safe and organized laboratory area.

·  Understand, calibrate and safely operate all laboratory equipment.

·  Perform required testing for product development projects.

·  Perform testing as required for manufacturing to insure compliance with established specifications including, but not limited to, COF, adhesive weights, bond strength, OTR, Dyne level, etc.

·  Review and accurately file all production test data.

·  Review, verify and file all Supplier Certifications.

·  Manually construct all requested “samples” representing potential features, conforming to all customer specifications and tolerances.

·  Prepare, verify and submit requested COA’s for customers.

·  Organize and maintain the sample storage and retain areas.

·  Train Laboratory personnel and/or users of the laboratory equipment.

·  Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings (Continuous Quality Improvement, safety, special projects, departmental, etc.).

·  Strictly adhere to all company uniform guidelines.

·  Any other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Related Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four year college or university, three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. In addition, candidates must possess experience with statistical analysis of quality (setting) data and SPC (implementation of control charts, data collection/analysis). Experience with calibration and maintenance of gas chromatograph equipment and collecting and analyzing customer complaint information preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: The ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, SOPs and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and statistical process control. Ability to measure accurately using a graduated ruler.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
