Dear ABLS Course Coordinator :

We are pleased that you have scheduled an ABLS Provider Course! The ABLS Provider Course gives your hospital a great opportunity for your burn center to reach out to the surrounding communities, making them aware of your services. The personal contact achieved in your teaching develops a positive response to your burn center, increasing the likelihood of patients arriving with appropriate pre-hospital care.

After your course has been posted on the ABA website, www.ameriburn.org, ABLS Course Schedule, please notify interested members of you staff, surrounding hospital ERs, EMT and Paramedic groups, and all first responders in your area, that the course has been scheduled. If you indicated that your course is a grant course or if the hospital will pay for registrations, you will need to distribute the code to folks who are eligible for the course.

You are free to use any of the information that is appropriate in your announcement. We would be pleased to receive a copy of your announcement. Here is some suggested language:

To: Prospective ABLS Course Registrants:

[insert medical director] MD, Course Medical Director, announces the Advanced Burn Life Support Provider Course to be held [date, insert place, address]. You and/or members of your staff are invited to participate in this Advanced Burn Life Support Course.

The Advanced Burn Life Support Provider Course is an eight-hour course for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, therapists, and paramedics. The course provides guidelines in the assessment and management of the burn patient during the first 24-hours post injury. Following a series of lectures, case studies are presented for group discussions. You will be given the opportunity to work with a simulated burn patient to reinforce the assessment, stabilization, and the American Burn Association transfer criteria to a Burn Center. Final testing consists of a written exam and a practical assessment return demonstration.

Please access the registration form by going to www.ameriburn.org , ABLS Provider Course Schedule, and select your course. The courses are listed chronologically by date and can also be accessed by search filters.

The registration fee covers the tuition, test, and continuing education credits. You will receive your ABLS Provider Manual approximately two weeks prior to the course. We look forward to having you in this course and hope that your calendar will find you available.
