LANGUAGE ARTS
Ms. Hogg:
ALL CLASSES
You will give an impromptu speech in class this week and will present it in a four-corners "game". Here's your topic: Is it best to be the eldest, middle, youngest, or only child? You will quickly decide your decision, write your strongest argument, stand in the "corner" that is marked as your preference of birth order and share your argument with the class.
1st and 2nd Blocks
1) A 1-2 page handwritten motivational speech is due no later than Friday.
2) Choose one inspirational piece (i.e., a quote) from your motivational speech and design a way to display it on the 7th Grade Hall wall (i.e., baseball trading card, bumper sticker, award, etc.). Whatever way you choose to present your quote, it must be school appropriate as everyone who walks down the 7th grade hall will see it for inspirational/motivational purposes.
3rd and 4th Blocks
Is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) or the Fixed/Growth Mindset a better "test" to understand people? Or both? Make your final decision, write or type your argument, and present your argument any way you want...alone or in a group. Your written/typed argument and presentation are due no later than Friday.
Lit Tip:Take reading materials with you to shared outings. Encourage your child to read while riding in the car, waiting at the doctor’s office, or passing time between activities.
